... admit that the automatic BCS bid for the ACC should be revisited?

FSU was losing AT HOME to Jacksonville State with three minutes left and managed to eek out a win. (Bobby Bowden on the radio afterwards by the way kept referring to them as Troy University -- even after being corrected)

Maryland had to go to overtime to beat James Madison.

Their first week's conference performance was also pretty bad if I recall correctly.

When Miami and FSU joined, the theory was that the other teams in the ACC would rise to their level. Instead, all of the teams in that conference have slid into oblivion.

Off point a little, but the BCS needs to go away. It's a glorified beauty contest that has nothing to do with identifying a championship team.

At this point, it sure does seem like it was a power grab by the big conferences to control the flow of bowl and related tv money.

Virginia lost their opener to William & Mary and Duke lost to Richmond. The Mountain West might be a better overall conference than the ACC.

Automatic bids are a joke, the BCS is a joke, and if we're forced into this system we need to get rid of part that gives us Vatech/Cincy. Ew.

While it would be nice to see the MWC get in Auto Bid, I'd rather see the BCS system done away with completely. Is it to much to ask that us fans get to see the championship decided on the field?

the sec isn't looking that great either

The conference, on the whole, is a bit down this year I would have to agree.

But no way would teams like Jacksonville State, William & Mary, James Madison, and Richmond be threatening or even beating our middle tier teams.

LSU almost lost to a team on a 14 game losing streak and they are considered a top SEC team.

Which makes the game up there in October a little less intimidating.

You know, with UT losing to UCLA, FSU looking horrible on defense and barely conscious otherwise, and with LSU apparently just sort of par for the course this year, I am looking at the Gators' schedule and really struggling to find a tough game prior to the SECCG. And even that might present much a challenge this year.

you mean might not....the gators have an easy schedule this year thanks to the SEC being bad this year and should be on their way to going to an undefeated season. When they make it to the SECCG, I don't see any team giving them problems. Alabama does not look all that great to me, Miss had their own problems after game one, and LSU is struggling as well, who knows maybe one of those teams can pull the upset, but I don't see it.

Yes, you are correct. Wireless keyobard sometimes will just miss entire words.

i think bama could easily beat florida.

At this point, they seem like the only SEC team that would be competitive. If that game were played this weekend, I feel like UF would be favored by double digits. But 12 weeks from now? Who knows.

Who will challenge them in the west?

Who won't challenge them? They should have beaten VT more than what they did. They took awhile to get it going this past weekend. How is it going to be any different when they get into SEC play?
