At What Point...

I may have missed it but this was the first time in four years that Kirk Herbstreet didn’t mention Art Briles during the broadcast. I think the realism of coach Heup just might be starting to sink into the talking heads.

Are the pundits going to stop saying:

"Everybody thinks Heupel's offense is sling it all over the map"

"Air Raid"

"Art Briles System"

Guys this is JOSH HEUPEL'S SYSTEM. We are here, and we aren't going anywhere. If you don't know by now that we can burn you through the air and on the ground, that's your problem. Time for the narrative to shift.
Nah…
Let them keep thinking that.

They’ll look up at the stat sheet after and realize we ran for 250 and passed for 240 and then they’ll get it lol

The stats say this is a run first team and a successful one at that. But the highlight reels are always the flashy, large chunk pass plays.

There are a lot of lazy journalists and analysts.
In many cases, it’s not even that the analysts/pundits are lazy, they’re just speaking to the lowest common denominator of casual fan constantly.

There was two elements missing the past two years. Elite defense and a very good underneath game with the tight ends. Those are there now and it makes this team even more dangerous. I am still hesitant to see how good I really think this team is. If we go into Oklahoma and beat them by ten plus, we are destined for great things.
So what if we beat them by 30+?

They call it a system (gimmicky) to say it is a "one trick pony." It means you are not really that good, but people are waking up to the fact that Tennessee does run the ball, and oh by the way, we also have a really nasty defense!

Trust me nobody that we actually play and studies our offense actually thinks this… a lot of the national media are starting to realize we are actually a run first team.

Well said friend. Anything, new, innovative, productive, and works successfully is considered a "Gimmick" in this game. Comical though, everyone else is just Jealous!!

This scheme with a solid defense is a breast. Juggernaut

GBO

Gonna have to gently disagree with you, friend. This scheme with a solid defense is most definitely NOT a breast…much less a juggernaut breast. Any fool can see that.

I never studied Briles system but he had a lot of 4 WR sets if I recall correctly. Heupel has never run a 4 WR set yet at Tennessee I recall. I doubt Briles ever lined up in 2 TE sets & ran the ball 66% of the time to beat a ranked team by 41 either.

Don't feed the trolls. If we complain about it it fuels them to push harder. Just sit back as CJH puts foot to arse and they will get over it. He has about 5 more years of it before the offense gets more popular and everyone switches to a 3-3-5/3-5-3 to counter then we will switch to good old wishbone on em.

Art Briles' Baylor was primarily known for their vertical passing game but Baylor also had a great running game. In 2015, Baylor ranked third in the nation in rushing yards per game at 319.6.

Below should help

I love it. The longer people think it’s some BS gimmick the longer it will take for more teams to adopt it

Steve Spurrier always laughed when they said the same about his offense and he never corrected them…
