Do catchers always switch from finger pitch calling to hand signals (i.e. crossing the chest, tapping wrists, etc..) when a runner is on second?
That's going on right now with Moyer pitching and Chipper on second. Moyer is also trying different timing with his delivery (stalling, then going with a quick motion). Moyer and Chipper were also exchanging words when he was on second.
I'm just curious if Moyer thinks Chipper is delivering signals. Or if most of this is standard. I've never noticed it before, but I don't watch for it often.
