I think 80 wins is possible IF everyone is healthy and IF Simmons/Peterson continue to hit like they have and IF the third base production is above average.

That's a lot of ifs. But the good news is the pitching is for real and will only get better throughout the year so they will be in every game.

Momentum and enthusiasm.. Contagious and important.

I'm not a rah rah guy when it comes to baseball but I actually agree with you here. Confidence for such a young team is really important and the more they win the more they can achieve.

Watching A-Rod at first has been interesting. Shows that it isn't as easy as people think.

Brown, with the addition of Wisler and with about five good starting pitching prospects (Folty, Baneulos, Sims, Wisler, Fried with a couple others) you think would put one of Hursh or Jenkins in the bullpen especially with there repeat mechanics questions? I guess you could wait and play it out but I think those two can really thrive in the bullpen.

I think they'll definitely keep them as starters, especially Jenkins.

May try to see who they like most and deal the others. It's a good problem to have. Can always transition to bullpen. I think Hursh and Folty, especially folty, could thrive in that role. Folty is much closer to being an impact starter than I anticipated though after watching him in spring.

Braves have been all in on the BP scrap heap for a while now. Johnson and grilli were excellent signings.

McDowell is so good at developing the bullpen. Venters/EOF weren't much till they got with McDowell and there have been plenty of others. I'm a huge Folty guy because his mechanics are so smooth and easy, plus I have love hard throwers with big time curveballs (huge Wainwright fan right here) so I really think he can be something. I'm actually higher on Baneulos than most and think he can be solid.

I'm curious to see what happens if this team competes and it gets to mid-July. Would they be willing to give one up for a rental?

Yep, he's got the stuff for sure. Great fastball.

Plus a nice slider. I haven't seen his delivery as of late but all the reports say he has a reliever delivery.

Lucas Sims looked really good this week also. Was hitting 96 on the radar gun.

Lineup tonight

Young
Peterson
Markakis
Freeman
Johnson
Callapso
Bethancourt
Simmons

Barney never could figure out stuff on his own...

Mike Foltynewicz

Good to know we have more pitching prospects than I was initially aware of. Just as a sea turtle lays hundreds of eggs in the hope that a few lucky progeny will beat the odds and live to adulthood, a baseball team must foster as many pitchers as possible, for seagulls and TJS are equally ruthless enemies of development and long-term prosperity.

No local Braves coverage cause MLB network? And mlb network is still showing tigers Indians for another hour. Smh
