Chris Johnson, Uggla, Gattis is 3/4 of our infield. Yikes. I aint even mad tho. 3/4ths of the earth is covered in water and the rest is covered by ANDY SIMMONS.

Real talk, I'm not sure the ball travels that much faster off a pro wooden bat at peak velocity (meaning a liner to first), than it does in high school off a metal bat. And how many of those balls are there a game, maybe a few, if any. And fielding those balls isn't exactly terrifying.
Now, at the plate, I'd be completely scared. And I wouldn't have the range, nor the stretching ability of a MLBer. But if we are talking about just being noticeably terrible, I think I could manage. ****, Fielder plays the position for a reason.
I just think if there's one aspect of any professional game where you could take a high school player and see if he can handle it (a Joes vs. Pros situation), that playing 1B might be the easiest (maybe professional placeholder). And again, noticeably bad is what I'm going for here.
All I'm trying to say is that I trust Gattis for a game or two if his bat really makes a difference.
I played the position in high school which makes me marginally more qualified than a Kardashian.
I'd be scared s***less to play a game at first in the majors having never played it at such a high level.
Better hope your reflexes and hand eye is up to par when Simmons throws a blistering 94mph dart. Also, better do some yoga so you don't pull a nut on the stretch.
Batting wouldn't scare that much so I think anyway.
It's a stupid hypothetical that I kind of expected not to go over well. But Gattis is a catcher, he can probably catch first, and scoop and the like just fine. We shall see.
There's no doubt he can handle the position better than anyone in this thread. But at 5'11, 275 lbs, I'd like to think we have a few young guys who could outrun him.
