I'm not saying he's not unlucky, but he's going to continue to struggle. It's too easy to pitch around the guy. It's been like that for awhile now.

Well I've been notified that if Justin Upton is hitting behind you it is literally impossible to pitch around you or make you struggle, ever.

And yeah, he has holes. Some very not fun sequences pop up. But he can also rake. He's shown both.

There's just no reason to believe "ah crap he's done."

Even if the struggle were more real and not partially due to bum luck... he's 23 and has shown it in a major way before. Nothing has really happened over these few weeks to cause major panic. Players just don't drastically change that quickly, really.

I'm not saying he's done. I'm saying there needs to be an adjustment mad.

That's it.

I have no idea what your specific argument is. Heyward is never going to hit .320. When you're 6' 5", your strike zone is enormous; of course there are going to be holes. Left alone, he'll draw a ton of walks and hit with great power. Trying to turn him into a more aggressive contact hitter, like the Braves have already flirted with a couple of times, would probably ruin him.

OPS'ing .657 against lefties for his career. And his OPS has gotten worse every year. Walks have gone down, and K's have gone up.

This is a problem. Heyward's my favorite player, and that's why this bothers me.

He is walking at above his career rate. His strikeout rate in 2013 so far is the lowest of his career. Most importantly, his line drive percentage is by far the highest of his career so far. I think you're just worrying over nothing, or wanting him to be a hitter he's never going to be, or both. He's probably just too tall to be a high-average hitter, especially against lefties.

For clarification, what exactly do you expect him to be?
