Atlanta Police walkout

Talked with one of my coworkers yesterday who lives downtown.

1. Tuesday was the first night without all night protesting/cop/helicopter presence in his area.
2. Many places of businesses damaged have not been able to open back up.
3. Memorial Drive, near where the shooting happened was blocked off by civilians armed with guns. BREAKING: Fire crews battling blaze on Memorial Drive in Atlanta | News Break
This was part of that. Apparently they refused to talk with anyone, and did not take part in any further protest or looting. But apparently they weren't letting anyone thru if you were white. Even if you lived in the area.
4. Edgewood (road/bar scene) is still a mad house. He got heckled for being there but no overt violence.
5. That tuesday was the first time without a shooting as well. But he says shootings are more the downtown issue rather than protesting issue.

I'm thinking rural residential real estate will be seeing some new buyers.

I have said it before but my field tends to lean pretty far left, and my office is no exception. And what I have heard from them is they dont mind. It's literally just another day in Atlanta.

Like getting stuck behind a tractor, if you are caught up in a protest you are caught up in a protest. Very nonchalant about the whole thing.

I can see that. Family vacation coming up, will see lib relatives from Atlanta. They just tolerate this garbage and never condemn it.

I was shocked by how accepting he was of the looting even while complaining about his grocer being closed down.
"No, it wasnt that bad. They were very efficient, before moving on. You could tell they had a system in place that worked for them." Is more or less a direct quote from him. And it came out positive from him, but most things do.

Having lived in ATL for awhile, that kind of attitude happens a lot; especially pertaining to traffic. You just come to accept that every trip is liable to take an hour.

This is true. I hate going other places and jumping in the car to get some where on Atlanta time and be there 30 minutes early.

The whole state of California is like that if you are going to be on any freeway . You have to allow an hour for traffic . ( in my experience)

Is America Starting Down the Path of Nazi Germany?
All over again, except in America. It will spread like wildfire. If we don’t stand up.

I just can't imagine America would let the Democrats win this year. As a former Democrat, I even see the urgency in this election and that should terrify conservatives.

That I cannot predict. But as for the "line", those who don't want us around will, to some extent, get what they want. Sometimes, you have to let the petulant child(ren) live with the results of their choices.

Obviously, I do not speak for us all. But as for me, if you call me for help, I will get to you, or fail trying.

This ain't my first battle against bad odds. I've been there before. There are many others out there like me, and better than me. So I guess we'll see how it plays out. I honestly hope it does not come to that.

We have had no issues to date in my AOR. Protests have been peaceful, and we have supported them. If chaos comes, it will come from outside this community, and they will find us considerably less welcoming than what they have experienced in Seattle, Portland, and Atlanta, to name a few.

I take it one day at a time. And I don't let the media tell me what to think.

Hey, thank you for your service.

Hey, thank you for your service.

Appreciate it. As for me, my hat is off to the front-line medical workers who have stood their watch, and stood tall, through a COVID-19 crisis that now looks like it might be looping back for Round 2. Those folks look death in the face every day. I'm proud of what I do, but I have nothing but admiration for the Med Corps right now.
