Have the women ever out drawn the men or made more money in basketball?

I had someone tell me this was true and didn't believe them.

I would say this was a regular occurance until Bruce came to town...not sure since then.

I would bet the women have out drawn the men quite a few years but doubt they made more money

The Jerry Green years fielded very good teams thanks to KO. I certainly can't see it being a regular occurrence.

they did but you also have to add the Houston and KO years. I went to those games and there were not many people there. The LV's were having a good run during that time too. I doubt it was a regular occurrence but would bet it happened more than twice. My "quite a few" may have been a bit strong

I figured if it happened it might have been in the Houston years and/or KO's first year or so.

Its possible during the year that Wade coached and Allan had already graduated and maybe one of the O'Neill years. No chance any other year. Its funny some of the ignorant arguments that you get comparing women's and men's basketball. I have had several people try to argue with me that the Lady Vols could beat a good boy's high school team.

I think if you are talking "tickets sold" then the answer is no. People that actually showed up....maybe.

Revenue wise, I doubt it's ever even been close.

I looked at the NCAA site and in '94 UTMBB averaged under 14,000 and in '03 and '04 I think it was as well.

Actual attendance it did happen in '03-'04 as far as I can tell. But as tigervol said tickets sold would still likely be in favor of men.

I agree that attendance was poor at times for men's BB. Dane Bradshaw often told stories that they could hear conversations in the stands because no one was there.

As far as I know, the women have outdrawn the men for avg. per game attendance only twice since TBA opened, and both times, the men's coach got fired that year. That was 1994 and 2005.

If you're just looking for a particular game, a women's home game against UConn routinely sold more tickets than any men's game in the pre-renovations TBA.

Thanks IE, I actually stumbled across that after I started the thread.

Some of Pat's teams could have.

I'm just going to go on record and say that Pat's 39-0 team could not beat any of the teams playing in the Tennessee boys sub-state games tonight in AA or AAA. I would say A as well but there are usually a couple of prety pathetic teams that find their way this far simply by being the best of the worst in their region.

Like I said, some of them could have. Probably not this team, but back when Holdsclaw was here and we were winning back to back NC's. Possibly even the years we won with Parker.

You have nobody to blame but yourself for this...

They've been beaten by rec league members in practice.
