Yeah, and your analysis is not very smart either. You wanted Pearl gone and here we are. Just because you don't know squat about Martin doesn't mean he won't be a great coach. Your comment are based on pure emotion and not on reality.

Reality, he is 61-41 at Missouri State. Reality, he has never taken a team to the NCAA tourney. Reality, get out the curtains.

In light of the sensitive nature of their name; the black curtains at TBA will now be known as the African American curtains

vols032 (sorry I'm not good with names that don't matter) If you do not think Stevens & Smart were not already approached, you are sadly mistaken.

Didn't know you talked to Hammy personally. Only names I have heard that were contacted were Jamie Dixon, Jay Wright, Xavier's coach, Rick Byrd, and Gregg Marshall. I didn't see one thing about talking to Shaka Smart, or what was offered to most of the other coaches. I saw it best earlier on this site. You get what you pay for. When NC St., Ga Tech, and Oklahoma end up with better coaches, don't wonder why since most of everyone has already said we are a better job than they are.

What about Shaka? I didn't think we had a serious chance with Stevens. Shaka would've considered.

Shaka could have been a possibility. VCU seems to be a springboard for coaches, with Capel to Oklahoma and Grant to Alabama. There's not much reason to believe he wouldn't give it a thought.
But UT may not be for him. The NCAA's snooping around and we're a football school. Just because we're the best job open right now doesn't mean he'll be interested.
I just pray that although Hamilton seems incapable of making basic decisions, he would've been approached.

I wanted Pearl gone, but obviously we didn't talk to Brad Stevens or Shaka Smart. They are still playing basketball. We wanted to hurry and hire a big name (sarcasm) so we could keep our players from turning pro and keep our committments from decomitting. Hamilton and Cheek aren't very smart.

don't be a homer....neither one of those guys were going to come here. You know it, I know it, UT knows it, and the media knows it.

Per Wes Rucker, Shaka was contacted but he was not comfortable with the NCAA troubles we have.

Those curtains will be needed on the first level.
:lolabove:

I remember reading about a soccer team that filled their entire stadium with cardboard fans to make it look like fans on tv.
We do that and sell ads on the fans T shirts. That makes up for lost gate money. Except when UK rolls into town and its 15,000 cat fans in the building.

Shaka is on a run and nothing more. He finished 4th in his own conference, at least Martin won his. If Shaka lost in the play in game the percentage clamoring for him would be about 75% less.

Someone may have already put this some where, but I figured our marketing department would need some ideas on how to market our new nugget of fools gold, Cuonzo Martin, properly. I've had some ideas and would like to see some others.

1. His name rhymes with gonzo from the muppets. I fugured a picture of gonzo, orange instead of blue, with the name Cuonzo underneath the picture.

2. Our new student section, The Cuonzo Crazies.

3. No idea but a suggestion here. Let's paint pictures of fans on the black curtains hanging in Thompson next year to give the appearance that we can actually get above half capacity next year.

:ermm:

You should play in traffic more often.

Your last 5-7 posts have added nothing to the discussion except what a few on here might consider a whisper of a thought.

Also your font size is gigantic to the point of annoyance and screams that your mom must not have hugged you enough as a child.

Nevermind, you probably are a child who's home from school for the day. I can't imagine your recent posts coming from an adult brain.

fyp

But of course he didn't. He's in the final 4. That being said, I see Martin as a Shaka level hire. Not sure that's a great thing. At least Shaka would have played a style that would make TBA loud.

As for the marketing pitch: RETURN TO NORMALCY

another reality is he took over a terrible missouri state program and in his 3rd season won the conference

Yeah, this was out about four days ago. Smart and Stevens were never gonna come here. This is a Dooley-type hire. With Dooley, it was a time crunch and a scum bag prior coach. With Martin, it was looming sanctions and a good, but crooked prior coach. Both were safe, character hires with potential upside.
