could you go into more detail?

I suppose it would only be meaningful if they've read it, but down at Volunteer Landing is about where Suttree's houseboat was moored, Harrogate lived up under the Hill Street viaduct, Dubyedee's place is still out on Blount Ave. under some name or another...and so on.

There's a website where someone's collected pics of some of the locations (Searching for Suttree) and a lot of places you can infer from the text of the book.

That's my all-time favorite book (not just because of the Knoxville connection -- I freakin love McCarthy) and every time I'm back in Knoxville I can't help but take notice of locations as I drive around. There used to be an event called the Suttree Stagger where Jack Neely would lead a group of people around downtown and vicinity to different Suttree locales, drinking and doing readings along the way, I believe. Maybe they still do it. I always thought that would be a blast.
