I thought the cliff notes were great for the gruden ordeal and I would love another cliff notes type thread on the three jobs that certainly will have some of the same names mentioned for them.

Post any cross over news in this thread concerning candidates for each job.

I'm all for Charlie Strong.

Proven recruiter. Defensive minded. Could put together a good staff.

I'd really like to see Ellis Johnson on staff now that he's out at Southern Miss...

Stoops I agree is a pipe dream. Fisher however is very upset about facilities not being upgraded as promised if you believe reports. If he doesn't get what he wants regarding those upgrades he will bolt IMO.

Petrino. If you don't think this guy would win and win big you're crazy. Get Petrino at a discount, use the extra money to bring in the best supporting cast and recruiters money can buy to offset anything negative he brings. You really think this guy doesn't deserve a second chance because he had an affair? Obviously it's not right but it happens all the time. I think he should be forgiven and would be a huge hire for us. He's won everywhere he's been.

I work at Purdue and unless something has changed in the last hour. Butch is not headed to PU yet. He is the first choice though.

Bring in Greg Roman as HC, Dale Jones as DC, and keep Chaney as OC...we could get all of these for what Gruden alone would have cost...sounds like a viable option to me.

According to Scout his classes have been ranked #64, #44, #33, #42, and next year is currently ranked #68 in spite of Louisville being in a BCS bowl.

No doubt he's a good coach but he can not be called a proven recruiter, at least not when he's the one in charge.

He's proven his salt in the SEC when he was with Florida and South Carolina....and a 20 spot jump from his first year to his most recent is a pretty damn good improvement.

It's not like Louisville has traditionally recruited well, either.





If I'm being completely honest...James Franklin would make the biggest impact.

What he's done at Vanderbilt is literally uncharted waters for them...and I'm not too proud to say just because he's the coach at Vandy and he's run his mouth; I wouldn't take him.

He'd KILL here.

Dude was a very good defensive coordinator for South Carolina. I'd compare his situation to Rod Marineli's of the Chicago Bears. Dude was a horrible H. For the lions, went 0-16. But a great DC. Some dudes just aren't HC material. I'd take him.
