It only took 5 days after an undefeated season for the first story to break about Auburn being under investigation

The preach is living in a 350,000 dollar home. I am sure that the team will all pray over this situation. That team prayed more this season than any team that I have ever seen. Not that there is anything wrong with that.

I hope they nail Auburn, but it seems college players can't scratch their ass without being investigated by the NCAA nowadays.

That's because Bama's watching everybody so they can turn 'em in.

yeah, they should probably concentrate on coaching, and having a semi-competitive team.

They might, next season. Then again, I hope we blow them away if we're looking at a BCS bid.

I just want Bama to win the west so we can beat them again in the SECCG. :D

The team that prays together should do time together.

The article was written by an AU grad. Could be that one of their own turned them in, which IMO is worse than being turned in by 'bama. Still, it wouldn't surprise me if the informants were from 'bama.

Is the allegation that the alumni are giving money to the church, and in turn the church is giving money to the players?

From what I read, there are no NCAA violations, just scrutiny because certain people think that all ministers should take a vow of poverty. I personally think that God can provide for all... including ministers.

Regarding any NCAA violations, the investigation is just a fishing expedition.

Hey, if lawyers can make a million, ball-players can make $100 million, and Donald trump can be worth $10 billion (or however much, who really cares?), aren't men of God worthy of living above the poverty level? I mean, if you looked out the window this afternoon and saw the Rider on the White Horse coming down from the heavens, which of the above would seem most important to you? (I'll give you a clue, he doesn't have to "comb-over" to look good.)

On a side note, I didn't know they made $350,000 trailers.

I am a Bama fan, and do not pull for Auburn in any situation, but I think any remarks against Rev. Williams is just tacky. I think that is wonderful that any school has provided someone for these young men to go to with their problems. A lot of times people think these are just big strong men, and what problems could they possibly be having, but no one knows what someone else is having to deal with in their person lives. I did notice that everytime a player(no matter what team) went down hurt on the field that the Auburn players knelt and prayed. I think this speaks well for a team of young men, and someone had to make them feel that this was a good thing to do. I think if of areas that should be under investigation this is not one of them.

Just to clarify - I started this thread not really to make fun of Auburn, but because it took less than a week after a great season for the "investigations" to begin. This seems to be the norm in today's environment.

I doubt anything comes of this. Doesn't surprise me that bobby Lowder's name would come up in this, though.

Also, I wouldn't be so quick to jump to conclusions about Auburn's program. We don't like it when stuff comes out about UT and people immediately state that UT should go down for something someone wrights, so I try to give others that same respect.

The media is always looking for the "springer" stuff to stir up contraversy and sell papers, but it seems to me they are digging pretty deep just to try and find something, anything and this story probably boils down to someone the preacher pissed off and this is all payback

Lowder has several tricks up his sleeve. I wish T Bowden could come clean without giving up his "hush money". OTOH it appears TB has used that money for groceries.

Yes, they did pray when players were injured. There is nothing wrong with that by any means. It was when they started praying because the Gatorade was running low that struck me as kind of strange.

No, he used it to buy every NYC phone book over the past 7 years to put on his seat so when he gets on TV sitting in the chair with the adults, he doesn't look like the midget he is when he starts drooling over his daddy.
