"Social media has definitely been the worst. People on Instagram are telling me how they hope I tear my ACL in game one. They will laugh when I do. They are saying my family is horrible and how they didn't raise me right. It's just crazy."

Hard to cast a stone at the fanbase since we arent much better at times.
I would just like to meet one of these dudes and just ask them.
Why are you doing this to a young man/kid, whatever the h## you want to call him?
And would you do it to his face?

And while this thread is about Auburn fans, I don't want anyone to think that I'm singling them out. This kind of behavior happens everywhere, and it's freaking sick.

If you get bent out of shape about where a 17 or 18 year old kid decides to play football, then you have a problem.

If you are following high schoolers on Twitter, then you have a problem.

If you believe a kid's choice of college is worth slinging insults at him, damaging his parents' livelihood, or wishing him injury or any other misfortune, then you have a problem.

I agree 100%!!! The sad thing is for some people their favorite sports team is what defines them. Whether its college or professional this is their life and they hang on every word a player, coach recruit etc speaks.

I work with people from all over the country and see many devote fans but will admit the people I work with from the south are the worst when it comes to this.

I feel sorry for this kid and his family, I despise Bama but hopefully he makes a few "game changing" plays against Auburn just for the treatment he is receiving.

As a whole, I definitely think Tennessee fans are more mature than this and would not engage in anything other than social media trash talk over losing a player from east Tennessee. However, Aaron Douglas and his parents probably would have taken some considerable grief over his transfer to Alabama had he not died...Though I don't remember Harrison Smith being harassed and Vonn Bell really wasn't that bad either...Maybe I just feel this way because we don't produce that many prospects?

Von Bell got it bad on twitter - his brother had to come to his defense and ask our fellow UT fans to quit bothering him.

Lets not forget the UT fan/VN member that harassed Herb Hand so bad about his wife, that the coach invited him to a fight and tweeted Butch Jones about it.

This type of behavior is way over the top, should never happen.

I will say this, and it's not to make excuses for Auburn, but there's no way to verify that all of those wackos are Auburn fans. I would not rule out anything with the Bammers, they are just as nuts.

Yes, we have had various individuals who have done very stupid things.

But you're implying that hundreds are all doing the same very stupid thing.

I did not say the act itself is crazy, I said Bammers are known for doing some crazy chit, so doing something like this is nothing.
