I was talking to a friend who is big into Bamaonline. There is a guy on there who leaked the Cam Newton story well before ESPN reported on it. From the agent to the church, he was right on the money. He says that there were a couple more players who were paid, i.e. Michael Dyer, Corey Lemonier, etc.

If this is in fact true, could Auburn have the hammer brought down on them early enough to face sanctions next year? If so, we may be looking at another situation where juniors and seniors are able to transfer out without penalties(due to bowl penalties).

I feel like Tennessee would be a prime location for lots of those players... I know that the content is hypothetical, just wanted VN's thoughts on the matter. I'd just like a couple more Malik Jackson's.

Something will happen - never seen a story like this blow up so fast. Each 24 hours that passes more and more stuff comes out.

Agreed. No one really seemed to know much about the Reggie Bush situation. This has been an absolute s***storm the past few days for Auburn. I have a hard time imagining this ending with anything other than their program being shredded.

After looking at what the Aubies have done, something's going to happen. When, I'm not sure.

2011 seems a little too soon for anything to happen when you're talking about the NCAA here. But they're going to get annihilated if all we're hearing is true.

The Barners know they are screwed. They are just praying that they can make it to and win the BCSCG before the hammer falls. Everyone will know that they cheated (again) but they sure as hell won't give back any trophies. Living in the shadow of Bama all this years has given them severe short man's syndrome.

I had concerns about Dyer's recruitment.

Wonder if AA's have already delved into some of the non-Cam Newton allegations?

I am sure that while they are there, they will get their hands dirty. Auburn will get sanctions of epic proportions.

I kind of liked them competing out west with bama and lsu though...

I'd be willing to wager nothing comes out of this. No university is retarded enough to leave a $200,000 paper trail. These are big businesses in the modern era of collegiate athletics. They're smarter than that. I would hope...

if a booster paid it they are screwed too. hell if it's proven $200K miraculously showed up at the church. that combined with the MSU guys saying newton himself said they gave him money woudl be enough for sanctions. the ncaa had a lot less evidence when it said that the RB coach at SC knew about bush.

Except they had evidence against Reggie Bush. Nothing with the exception of him cheating at Florida can and has been proven.

The money stuff? At this point, it's nothing more than a rumor.

Why would he and his family ask Mississippi State for money, but not Oklahoma?

him telling a coach auburn gave him money isn't evidence?

you can't hide that kind of money.

who knows. maybe he had no intention of going to oklahoma. maybe auburn already offered him every cent he wanted. are you implying MSU is lying?

There's no proof. All we have at this point is he said she said.

and the MSU coach's incentive to say this is. . .?

we also have his dad's consistantly changing story about where the money came from too.

Um... not getting the eventual Heisman winner and potential national champion?

And which coach was it that said this again?

And what money? If there were any money, we wouldn't be having this discussion.

If Cecil had any sense, he'd STFU right now. Really until he started running his trap, I assumed the claims were too ridiculous to be true. But he has single-handedly given credibility to them with his ever changing stories.

Right now there is only speculation but when wild speculation enters the media it is usually stamped out fairly quickly and labeled as such. This story has been much different, it has gained ground and continued to snowball. Way too much smoke here to deny the fire. It looks bad and new information seems to come out every day or two. As Droski pointed out the stories coming from the Newton family are ever changing with new developments. Something stinks.

Yes.

And I'll ask again. Which coach was it that claimed this?

This investigation has been going on since January. :ermm:

Why would they lie? they are going to risk their career to bring down a player who simply went to another school? give me a break.

they haven't disclosed which coach said it. i apparently was more than one. does it matter?

no they reported it in january. for some reason the ncaa didn't get around to it till a month ago.

I just gave you a reason for them to lie.

More he said she said right?

no they reported it in january. for some reason the ncaa didn't get around to it till a month ago.

Either way, the NCAA has known about it for 11 months, and no money has surfaced. The Newtons have already provided bank statements, etc.
