Auburn @ Kentucky Thursday Oct 15 6pm

I've watched him play enough to feel confident that I'm being pretty fair.

Well I'm sure you've seen him more than me, but I don't think he was the reason Ky lost tonight. He played well enough for them to win IMO. Don't worry, UT's pass defense will make him look good in 2 weeks.

Ehhhh, it was 50-16 last year against you guys. You sure you want to go there?

I ate my crow last year. I wasn't alone in saying UK had a good chance. Then came Dobbs and the collapse of UKs season. I was completely fine with admitting we got spanked massively.

I really think we're good enough to beat UT. I don't think we will though. UT could run it every single time and probably win. I just don't think our front 7 is there yet. I like the offense, and with our passing game I believe there is a chance to score on UTs secondary.

I got a question. Did you say this last year as well?

WOOHOO WAR DAMN YALL!!

who am I kidding, we still ******* blow.

Wish I could have been able to watch what should be our only SEC victory this season. Good game Kentucky fans. wish i could have joined yall in the chat tonight.

What are you laughing at? Towles will be drafted, Josh Dobbs will not.

Towles will likely be drafted highly based on his measurables. I think it's a legitimate question as to whether or not Dobbs even pursues football at the next level. I almost think he'll just get a draft analysis to see what it says and call it a day.

Kentucky can definitely score on Tennessee's secondary and defense overall. Towles throws the ball very well with time and he'll have time vs a poor UT pass rush and you'll undoubtedly have WRs running free at times. The biggest problem for Ky will be trying to stop our offense, an overall talent disadvantage and battling the psychological edge that Tennessee holds over them....it's kinda like the one Tennessee always succumbs to when they play Florida. The good news for Ky is that Butch Jones will be on Tennessee's sideline and not Ky's

Josh Dobbs is improving. He still has weaknesses just like any other QB out there. He may not be the best passer but he knows how to take over games when needed. I'm sure he'd get drafted somewhere but I truly believe Dobbs wants to pursue his career in aero space engineering which he should.

He's also crazy inconsistent. Dobbs may not get drafted but Towles is a late rounder at best.

I didn't see the beginning of the game, but I saw very little inconsistency from Towles last night from the second quarter on. Threw for about 350 yds with at least half a dozen drops. Last play was a poor decision but doesn't speak to inconsistency. I saw a big, strong-armed QB making throw after consistently accurate throw. I also saw him pick up some big third downs wth his feet. He's a very good NFL prospect IMO. I'd take him over Hackenberg all day every day.

Love Dobbs, he's a great playmaker and competitor, but he's not getting a sniff from the NFL as a QB. If Nick Marshall didn't get a sniff to play QB (currently a CB with Jacksonville iirc) in the NFL, Josh isn't either. He just doesn't have the accuracy needed to play at that level.

Has moments/games when he's a great college QB.....absolutely no chance to play QB in the NFL.

How does Auburn's specials teams coach still have a job? You have to have a hot call in the case that you are in punt formation and the other team doesn't have anyone at all lined up on defense. Could have ended the game if the punter just runs the ball towards Auburn's sideline.

In fairness I've felt like Hackenberg has been really overrated for a while now. The entire group of 2016/2017 QBs looks weak actually.

This game ended up being a real good Thursday night SEC game. It would be awesome to see a SEC game scheduled for every Thursday night on ESPN or SECN in the near future.

How much you want to bet that UT records at least 4 sacks versus UK?

Towels holds on to the ball too long and UT has not had poor pressure this year, they just haven't done a good job bringing the QB down. It's almost like you don't watch the games and rather just look at stats...

The biggest example of the difference in perception between Tennessee and Kentucky is that when Kentucky loses a close game it's viewed as a positive. Their coach is doing a great job (even while fielding a punt return unit with 8 players and running the ball with no timeouts and 50 seconds left to play while trailing by 3 points) and they are up and coming. When Tennessee loses a close game it's because they choked and it's terrible coaching.

Btw, Barnett was much more of a factor against Georgia and finally recorded a sack. I'm not sure what his problem has been to this point but the pass rush should be fine. Georgia's offense accounted for only 17 points.

So, prefer to deal in bets and "what ifs" rather than actually evaluate the effectiveness our pass rush half way through the season.

We have 9 sacks in 6 games this season....2 of those games are vs OOC opponents BGSU and West Carolina....a third game was vs a patchwork Florida OL which entered the season with 11 collective starts and who rotates multiple freshmen.

So...9 sacks in 6 games, which ranks near the very bottom of the league (only Arkansas has fewer) and you think we're of a sudden gonna get 4 in one game? Lol.

I've watched every game. What I've seen is a decent amount of pressure vs OU and Florida, absolutely none vs Arkansas, not much vs Georgia. I've heard the coaches talk about "needing much more from Derek Barnett" in the form of not only more sacks but also tackles for loss. I've also heard them say that part of our very poor pass defense in general is our inability to get into the other team's backfield and get to their QB...just hasn't happened anywhere near the regularity and frequency with which it did last year or with the level of expectation for this year.

Finally, hate to break it to you, but statistics, especially when you have a valid sample size of half a season, are an accurate measure of performance. You can do all the betting you want, but Tennessee's pass rush and ability to get pressure on the QB to date has been poor.

For example, we don't throw the ball very well as an offense, everybody's seen it, so guess what?... our passing statistics reflect it. Conversely, after watching Evan Berry return kicks and punt the ball, it sure looks like we have one of the best kick returners and best punters in the country......and their statistics support it. Perhaps we figure some things out after the bye week and greatly improve our ability to not only pressure the other team's QB and actually get him on the ground the last half of the season....that would be great....it would also be a major change from the first half of the year when we've very poor in that area.

Idk who you're talking about. I've not been happy with one game we've played this year.
