*THANUnless the schools self-impose (or go along with it) than all of this can be quite difficult considering NATIONAL COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION v. ALSTON ET AL.
Say Will Wade directly or indirectly provided payments for players to sign/play, the issue is.... why is the NCAA restricting trade? Now, if they convince LSU to go along with it than it might be an easier road. If LSU doesn't like the outcome you don't appeal the ruling (as its not appealable), you filed an anti-trust lawsuit against the NCAA in federal court with a preliminary request for to enjoin them.
If LSU fired Will Wade for cause based on the ruling than Will Wade would most likely have recourse against the school and the NCAA.
Right now the NCAA is looking for schools to self-impose because that is all they really have.
I think the biggest hurdle LSU has is whether or not NCAA chooses to punish football and basketball separately. It's clear there was a massive lack of institutional control, that should be enough cause to treat the cases as related.Unless the schools self-impose (or go along with it) than all of this can be quite difficult considering NATIONAL COLLEGIATE ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION v. NCAA is run by a corrupt bunch of thugs, they'll take some swings before it's over. Only a matter of time before conferences essentially absolve themselves of the NCAA governing body.So Pearl got a 3 year show cause for a Barbaque at UT and a 2 game suspension for buying players at Auburn? Go figure. No wonder the NCAA has zero credibility.

I look at it this way. Pearl has gotten in some kinda trouble everywhere he’s been. He may be a fine basketball coach on the floor, but he’s proven over and over again he can’t manage a program. I don’t know the man, don’t wanna say anything negative, but I am happy with where we are and that he’s where he is.
GBO!!!
He manages programs fine. They win and win big under him once he gets established. The "blue blood" programs are steeped in decades of cheating unchecked.
Felton and Neidermeyer will receive show cause penalties. It's unclear on Pruitt. Tennessee will receive recruiting restrictions, but not a reduction in scholarships. We are talking about reductions concerning in home visits and official visits, and reduced phone contact with prospects.Unlikely. Beldar, yes. UT, no. We definitely getting probation and will probably lose scholarships as well.
Bruce Pearl first made his name in 1990 as an assistant at Iowa, by surreptitiously recording a phone call with a recruit from Chicago named Deon Thomas. Pearl then handed over the tape recording to the NCAA's Committee on Infractions, with the implication being that an Illinois assistant named Jimmy Collins had offered Thomas impermissible benefits, which included cash and an SUV.He manages programs fine. North Carolina graduated players that didn't go to classes that were never held. So they decide to punish the likes of Auburn and others. Eff the NCAA they are beyond corrupt IMO.My only question is why Auburn and why not LSU, Kansas, North Carolina, and Duke? Seems weird that the only person on the hook for all of the shenanigans is Bruce Pearl…

In light of his own troubles with the NCAA, Pearl has looked like a hypocrite of the highest order. He has now been suspended for rule violations, both by the commissioner of his conference (Mike Slive) and by the NCAA's Committee on Infractions. That is a first for an SEC coach, in any sport.
If integrity doesn't matter, then it's fair to say that Pearl "manages programs fine". I'm glad he isn't managing Tennessee's program anymore, though.
