Auburn Wednesday attendance

I love how people give BTO a hard time for sticking with our coach. I used to be on board with him but lost complete faith this year in CCM...but I applaud BTO. He does know a whole lot more than 1/2 or more of the posters here even though they give him a crap.

I don't think it's even so much he's "sticking" with him, it's that BTO stands by that there's a lot of basketball left to be played, and barring the bottom completely falling out (i.e. losing like 12 of the next 13), Martin will be our coach the rest of the year. He's made it clear that Martin has a lot of work to do and that even barely making the NCAAT isn't good enough considering what we thought we had, but because he's not gnashing his teeth and screaming about Martin, obviously he thinks Martin should be the coach forever.

No joke dude. Around here, if you're not screaming for Martin to be fired after every loss, you're labeled as a blind sheep. That just comes with being a member of VN. People love to overlook the fact that the handful of supportive posters, such as BTO and myself, have given Martin plenty of criticism and aren't turning a blind eye to his downfalls.

This post deserves it's own thread.

WHAT?

You think Martin deserves an extension, you're a damn idiot.

The actual attendance was by far the lowest all year. Lower section has pretty much been full to even the bad OOC games. Probably 75% full for Auburn. Upper deck was probably 10%-15% full. IMO everyone that attended could have fit in the lower level. I'm guess 12K or lower was actual attendance.

Rob Lewis guessed 13-14k actual

Yeah, there's no way that's accurate. They announced 14025 which is tickets sold.

I asked a coworker who went and their best guess was around 11-12k. I'd guess 11k max. Basilio said 10k.

Look at the game pics. That place only holds 21,678. It doesn't look half full which would be around 11k. The uppers looked really bad.

All that being said, this is a tough draw. Wednesday night games have always been a tough sell. Add to that the quality of the opponent and the bad taste left in the mouth of those who went Saturday. I'm surprised they had that many show up to be honest.

Oh I agree, was just answering your question from someone who was there.

With the state of the program being what it is I think 10K on weeknight is a good turnout.

Next home game is Arkansas, next Wednesday at 8:00pm. Lose Saturday and that could be a pretty bad crowd as well.

What is the state of the program? We're not on probation. An experienced, athletic roster. Hardly a crisis mode.
