Auburns Recruiting....

Its not as if our fine friends at Auburn have a squeaky clean football history anyway. How many times has that school been on probation since 1990? I know of at least two..

As for the Newton situation...it baffles me as to how widely reported the fact that they had Cam himself on tape talking about the money, and the NCAA just goes with, "Well Cam said he didn't know nuthin' bouts that!"

I suppose the TV money is too good for them right now, so they'll take their profits and rape Auburn in two years when it doesn't matter for sh:censored:t. Way to go, NCAA!! :banghead2: :finger3:

Cal had a really good class last year due to a handler by the name of Otis "the Pimp) Yvelverton(nicknamed earned in NC from HS coaches after being dismissed at several HS programs that got in trouble for illegal participation). Help them sign the top players out of NC who were already commited to Oregon and UA.

I thought Droski was Otis the pimp?

Otis the Pimp was a coach at a HS in Geensboro that costs Chris McCain his eligibility and his next coaching stint Gabe King was ruled ineligible for NCHS and if people remember he moved to Oregon to finish out HS. CM verbally commited to Oregon and G King was suppose to. K Allen and his half brother move from each HS and followed Otis to wherever he went. Both schools got hammered one forfeited their season because of Otis. All four decided to commit to Cal at the last moment. To bad KA's half brother to qualify to get in and I belive is at a CC working on his grades, but atleast the whole family moved out there.

This is a link for a great photo of Otis the Pimp, who is no agent or has any interest in getting players to certian schools.:0

There is no known evidence of that and no coach at Miss. State ever said so or reported it publicly. If such tapes existed, they would have been turned over to the NCAA and they would have ruled differently. Put simply, such tapes must not exist with the kid saying any such thing and the coach must not have claimed he said any such thing, or he would have been suspended.

It is interesting that it was reported that there was a Title III wire tap on some of the boosters for AU. Don't know what the chances of those conversations being turned over to the NCAA or if they would be available through FOI. I believe that FOI rules for the Feds are different. I do seem to remember hearing quite a few conversations from the wiretapping conducted on the former mayor of Chicago.

Thanks, detective.

I'm not saying there's nothing going on, but a lot of teams can recruit well without winning.

Rival's current rankings:
5. Clemson
11. Ole Miss
12. North Carolina
16. Texas Tech
17. Cal
24. Michigan

Not exactly BCS bound. But I guess they bought all of their players too.

The two above... along with Auburn are the teams that I think are "possibly" breaking rules with recruiting.

The closet Auburn fan speaks up.

IMHO Auburn has already been caught red handed. The top executives at the NCAA have asked not to see the reports till everyone gets their money this year. Noone wants Oregon and TCU playing for the NC. If any recruites still plana on going to Auburn then they are not very smart. The NCAA will sit back and wait a year then come down on Auburn.

No evidence other than one persons word but yes it was reported to the SEC. It was recruiters for MSU, which I am assuming is staff that have publically stated on the record that Cam new about the PfP and it was reported by MSU. Now the SEC apparantly swept it under the carpet and 11 months later it all came out.

Auburn star Cam Newton and his father said in separate phone conversations that schools recruiting the quarterback would have to come up with money beyond a scholarship to secure his services, according to an ESPN report.

ESPN on Tuesday cited “two sources who recruit for Mississippi State,” and said that the school’s compliance officials reported the conversations to compliance officials for the Southeastern Conference in January,

Before Cam Newton, widely considered the current front-runner for the Heisman Trophy, committed to Auburn, one of the Mississippi State recruiters said Cecil Newton told him it would take “more than a scholarship” to land his son, ESPN said. The recruiter said the school would not be willing to do that.

After committing to Auburn, Cam Newton phoned another recruiter and said his father had chosen Auburn because “the money was too much,” according to ESPN.

They also gave Dakota Mosley a nice payment to sway Dyer to Auburn.

Players like this are stupid to be flashing money around like that. There is definitely something going on in Aubbie land. I just can't see them not catching some kind of NCAA punishment when all the dust settles.

Anybody with some sense knows that Auburn cheated, they've done it before and the same guys are still involved in the program (Lowder, Dye, etc..). Now it's just a waiting game to see how good they are at hiding their tracks, but with the FBI sniffing around they had better be pretty good. If half of what I have heard is true Auburn's punishment will make SMU's look tame

This national championship game seems ultimately inconsequential. No matter what, Auburn won't be national champs...

Go Ducks, at least they will get to keep it. The SEC will look bad enough when Auburn gets hammered, without having to give back the championship too.

Maybe chizik had enough time to form relationships with the recruits like all the other coaches. Just because their classes got better doesn't mean there was something illegal going on.
