Austin Nichols official visit rumors...

Ah that's what you meant, coaches know well before...I see that.

He seems pretty determined to take that auburn visit and announce on ESPN...very well could let the coaches know of his decision, but still finish the process.

Its sorta like stokes last year, just hearing alot of rumblings he told the coaches. I hardly ever talk to bb coaches about recruiting, hearing from the same people that told me about stokes last year.

Skeeter, you know you're the bomb when you have more likes than you do actual posts. Thanks for what you bring to the board.

Man this would be huge did pearl ever get two five starts in one class when he was hear. Cunzo Martin is going to make us forget all about Bruce Peral. Martin is a damn stud.

Who's Bruce "Peral" (sic)?!

Kidding aside. For all of the "wandering in the wilderness" that UT has done in hoops since DeVoe was fired, we have really been lucky 1) to have been able to find and hire Bruce Pearl and 2) after losing Pearl, to find and hire Cunzo Martin.

Also...Austin and Dad were at practice today...CCM was really riding the guys today and expecting a lot out of them. Mark apparently was VERY attentive on the sidelines...
.

Has Mark Nichols changed his mind about Tennessee not being a good fit for Austin's style of play?

Didn't ask, I'll ask after the visits complete...figure there's another practice tomorrow or presentation atleast about how he'll be used

Open......???????.......

No don't think so.

From what I heard Martin was uhmmmm...overly fired up, and riding the players...my guess is this was something to show Nichols and his family how ish gets ran and something he may not want general public seeing.

I'm beginning to question whether this was ever a genuine concern or not. Doesn't pass the smell test to me. Why is this all of a sudden a concern for his father? We haven't heard it being questioned once in the last 18 months until word of a potential commitment leaked out, much to the chagrin of the Nichols family.

I'm right there with ya on this, I think dad was trying to throw some people off. If our style of play was that big of a problem I think we'd have been eliminated awhile ago. Also, Virginia scores in the 50's, but he's yet to mention their style...

Also...who's someone you think the dad probably talks(Ed) to a lot about this....Austin's coach. Oddly enough his coach think Tennessee's offense would Neva great fit for Austin and that he'd excel under Martin.

As long as Cal is there everybody will be playing for second.

Crap...thanks for letting us know :(

Call coach Martin and cancel the season because nobody wants to play for 2nd. And all this time I thought we played the games first :cray:

I really didn't understand this comment to begin with. UT's style is perfect for a guy like Austin Nichols. When I look at Nichols game, I can see a lot of what Ryan Kelly does at Duke. He plays excellent away from the basket and has good hands. I'm not sure he has as good of an outside shot but both have great feet for big men. I would think Martin would be pumping the ball into the post like crazy and run a lot of set stuff for him. Surely Austin's dad understands that he's good enough to run an offense through or at least part of the time.

I think that if We get Nichols to go along with Hubbs then Cuanzo Martin will be able to talk Stokes into staying one more year. That would be sick to have Golden, Hubbs, Mccray, Nichols, and Stokes next year in the starting lineup plus Richardson coming off the bench

Like I said, I think we are being fed a line of bull to throw us off the scent, not that I blame him for trying to add some element of suspence to his son's announcement. I just think this would have been an issue 6 months ago too, if in fact, it really is now.

Yup. Bingo. I agree 100%. I would love for him to make it official after this visit but I also wouldn't mind waiting for his ESPNU announcement because it's more Tennessee exposure. Either way, there is no doubt this kid will be a Vol.

I felt the same way, someone already mentioned his HS Coach, but I wouldn't count out another college coach that is recruiting him, I'm not saying a head coach for certain, could be an assistant.

I think what you're saying is that someone is trying to put the idead in his head that CCM will not use him effectively in his offense. Correct? His HS coach, at least according to BTO, is on record saying just the opposite. Not sure myself. Hadn't heard one way or another.

"Harrington(nichols HS coach), who runs a four-out, one-in motion offense at Briarcrest, said he thinks Nichols could work in Martin’s system."

“It’s hard to read Austin to begin with,” Harrington added. “I look at all the coaches that are recruiting him and there are some coaches that have different personalities and age differences, stuff like that. I think Coach Martin fits well with Austin.”

Nichols and Hubbs are AAU teammates for Tennessee-based M33M Elite. Hubbs’ father, Robert Hubbs Jr., is an assistant coach.

Additionally, Nichols is well familiar with Stokes, who was a high school star in Memphis.

......

That was from the article...as I have mentioned, I think it's no coincidence Martin has been implementing a 4 out 1 in offensive scheme this off season...

Also, Virginia is thought to be a contender...has anyone seen them play or seen their PPG??? We look like LBSU compared to Virginia...

Correct, but since I have no way of knowing, I don't want to throw out accusations.

That's not as bad as sitting infront of someone that talks about Yemi Miller, Trae McRae, Skylar Mc3, Josh Chievous, etc. "Number 25. . . that's Kenny Hall isn't it?"

Ouch. Very few things annoy me as much as misspelling our own players and coach's names. That's just a whole new level.

My Suite mate was eating breakfast at Cracker Barrel and he saw Nichols, his mom, Cuonzo, and an assistant coach eating there. It's rumored he was eating the Country Boy Breakfast.
