Avengers Infinity War: SPOILER Thread

Also, while on the subject and for future reference, there's been more than one Thor. I know, weird as hell, but when Chris Hemsworth's contract is up, it doesn't necessarily mean Thor is gone.

FTR, I am a former comic geek. Don't judge, everyone is addicted to something. For a long time, my addiction was comics. Then their cover prices skyrocketed and I gave them up. Part of the reason I love Marvel movies so much is reconnecting to my past.

Here's the rub for future deaths. Killing Tony Stark doesn't kill Iron Man and killing Steve Rogers does not kill Captain America. Tony is the original, but he wasn't the only Iron Man in the comics. Long before becoming War Machine, Rhodey wore the red and gold armor. So killing Tony does not mean killing Iron Man. Same applies to Cap. Many people have worn the Captain America uniform. The list includes Bucky and the Falcon, but there were many more as well. My point being killing Tony and Steve in the next movie does not keep Marvel from revisiting Iron Man and Captain America in the future. Just food for thought while pondering where the next movie will go.

I think Tony and Steve are good as dead in the next one.

1. Wut?
2. Wait... WUT??
3. Wut?

They weren't necessarily in order but I enjoyed all of them more. Sorry.

Spider Man 2 with Doc Oc has been recognized as the near perfect superhero movie.

Conan was amazing and one of my favorite films as a child. Arnold pushing that wheel as he grows up...cmon.

Kick Ass was the first really subversive superhero movie and I love it.

Report away.

IMO if you are in a MARVEL comic and appear in a movie you are in the universe and Mickey Mouse is not going to tell me different.

Sony, Fox, and Universal would disagree.

Note I might be wrong on Universal but I think they own the right of first refusal for all solo Hulk movies

Spider-Man 2 was great. FX may be a little dated now though.

I will always remember the scene when he was on the side of the train car and another came rushing past so Spider bent sideways to avoid it, my buddy jumped in his seat like he had to dodge it too. Still cracks me up thinking about it. This was before 3D was a common thing.

Conan was pulp novels and a comic before being a movie so I will allow into the genre. I’ve always considered him fantasy as opposed to superhero.

The incredibles
Unbreakable
Punisher “War Zone”
Batman (1989)
Spawn - which is being rebooted

Not all are in my top 10, though the incredibles certainly is, but are worthy of consideration.

I loved Spider-Man 2, I would put it in my top 5. And Kick-Ass was good, but I didn't find it to be that memorable in comparison to most superhero movies.

I liked the 2004 Punisher with Thomas Jane, but I only ever saw bits and pieces of War Zone and I couldn't get into it. Unbreakable was awesome, Split wasn't quite on its level but I like the universe Shyamalan is creating. As for the others- I didn't like Spawn, The Incredibles was good but it's not something I would personally seek out to watch, and the 1989 Batman was pretty good, I just don't hold it in as high regard as some people.

I just have a soft spot for Kick Ass, also the movie Super starring Rainn Wilson which was directed by...James Gunn.

Fair points all...
I know I’m in the minority by feeling the Nolan Batman films weren’t good Batman movies.
Good movies, yes.
The characterization of Batman was way off.

As dark and brooding? I disagree.

???

Those movies nailed Batman’s characterization.

Why can't we all agree Deadpool exists in the Marvel multiverse, just not the Marvel Cinematic Universe? Can't we all just get along?

I don't think anyone ever had a problem with it; but the MCU is a specific thing and DP is 100% not in it.

He was dark and brooding sure.

They were wrong with how he looked and moved. And what drove him.
More than anything else Batman is driven by a sense of right and wrong. He’s looking to ensure that justice is served. His only power is his Will to keep going.
The Nolan films made Batman a ninja. He’s a samurai. He has a strict code he lives by and seeks to enforce.

You’ll have to forgive me, for some reason when you said Spider Man 2 I thought you were referring to the Andrew Garfield sequel.

My mistake. I respect that pick.

They could just replace him with Liam!:)

Batman hides in the darkness. He’s there and then he is gone.

In what way is that more Samurai than ninja?

He is loyal to his code like the samurai. For them it was Bushido. For Batman it’s justice. He stands against impossible odds. He’s not an assasin. It’s about honor and justice.

Gonna be interesting to see how literally half the planet disappearing affects the Marvel TV shows if at all. Surely they cant just not address it.

The last episode of SHIELD they directly referenced Thanos about to attack the Earth. Apparently a line earlier in the episode where someone says to Daisy "You hear about this stuff happening in NY?" was supposed to be referencing the first part of IW where some of the heroes fight Maw and Obsidian. Then later Coulson and others are on a spaceship talking with some non-related invading aliens who tell them Thanos is about to destroy their world.

I'm guessing they're just going to reference it but somehow none of their group will be vaporized. And the Netflix shows will probably just barely reference it like usual.

I did read the Russo bros. did want to include cameo appearances from the Netflix characters but couldn't come up with a satisifactory way to do so and since they couldn't even come up with a good way to include Ant-Man, Wasp, and Hawkeye, they decided not to try.

Having the Netflix characters appear in the movie for any amount of time always seemed like a pipe dream, but knowing that they actually considered it gives me hope for the future.

I don’t really care if the Netflix shows only mention it in passing. I guess it would be kinda neat if there was an episode or two that maybe was affected it but I’m not sweating it. The Infinity Gauntlet was a self contained 6 issue mini series and very few of the other titles spent any time referencing it. Those that did were the titles of characters directly involved in the mini series but titles like The Avengers and X-Men basically ignored it. The waa a Hulk issue that was branded a IG tie in but even it barely touched on it.
