But if there are a bunch of two loss teams in the conference won't they be using those same arbitrary tie-breakers to determine the two who will play in the CCG?
Yeah .... but at least we are still crowning a champion after a game. Not having a 3 way tie like 1989 .... and sending Alabama to the Sugar Bowl with no explanation as to why.

Absolutely correct. At some point The Sec and B10 will just form their own conference and play their own ncaa championship. All the pieces and major players are already there
Sad day for college football. So many programs will become insignificant. Plays to the hands of the blue bloods and will hurt marginal programs. It will be like the rich people freezing out the working class.

Not to belabor the point, but there wouldn't be a 3-way tie if tiebreakers are used to determine the champion, and the SEC wouldn't risk losing a team for the playoff due to a 3rd loss. There's no perfect way to do it.

If I'm Missouri I would .... No way they are in consideration for an at-large bid to the CFP with that schedule, and 2 blowout losses.
Drinkwitz thinks Mizxou can climb up from the 24th spot and still make the CFP

After the game, in a postgame interview with ESPN's Cole Cubelic, Missouri head coach Eli Drinkwitz made a statement about his team's win.

“It gives us another win, keeps us in the playoff hunt. That's right. I said it. Playoff hunt,” Drinkwitz said.

LOL.

They play :

@ South Carolina
@ Mississippi State
Arkansas

I'm not seeing how those 3 games gets them into the CFP top 12.

Sankey is smart but over played his hand.

The love of money is the root of all evil.

He sacrificed the whole conference(other sports, tradition, regionality, etc) for the guaranteed money from ESPN to expand.

Now the Big 10 will always be guaranteed 3 teams who play no one but each other and the SEC will be fighting to get 3 or more in Because they beat each other up during the regular season. The good news is the SEC regular season will have the highest ratings of all CFB because the best teams will be from the top 1/3 of SEC and great games will be occurring every weekend.

During sankey’s midnight nightmares he has realized this so he is pushing for CFP-16 with 4 guaranteed SEC and 4 Big10 teams which is actually worse because the fourth Big 10 team will get in with 3 regular season loses including to the nun school down the road.

Sankey trying to save face for his screwups.

BTW……wait till he sells out the SEC for the money for the 9 game regular season, it will only get worse….but the love of money is……

FYI….none of this can be solved as long as the majority northern based media and other conferences are part of the ranking process because they over rate the Big10 off name kind of like Bama being rated ahead of UT even when UT beats them.

Indiana is 10-0 and top 5 in the country. Let's settle down.

I wouldn't go that far. The 4 highest ranked conference champions get a bye in the CFP. That's a benefit.

.... and how do you crown a conference champion in a 16 team league following an 8 game schedule without one?
Only in being guaranteed to making it to the second week, and then 3 more days of rest.

There are 3 weeks between the end of the regular season and the first round of the playoffs. the winner of the conference title games gets 3 weeks and 3 days between the conference title, and the 2nd week of the CFP.

the down side is making it to your conference title game, and then losing, and having to play week 1 in the playoffs. that and if Army makes it, they will only have 1 week off before the playoffs.

Indiana could very easily be a team NOT included in a 40 team super league. And that is where this is headed. So could Duke, BC, Stanford, Boise, Memphis, etc.

If you are going to let ESPN and other networks control who is in and who is out then what is the significance of teams associated with colleges and universities? Just let them go and create a AAA farm league for the NFL. Some of these kids do not care about the education aspect anymore anyway.
