Love how you feel she is a moron but the big O is just so damn bright.

Oddly, the government felt she was smart enough to represent the US treasury department for the IRS before she went into politics.

I know. I know. Not as cool as sitting in a basement with B.A. and a bunch of ex weather underground criminals planning on how to organize things.

She's not my choice but she did well tonight in the debate.

Who would you pick?

I'd love to see Herman Cain in.

If not, I feel we're about to see the governor of tx one more time around again.

I'm losing interest in Cain. He's a gaff machine and shallow in the idea department.

Of the group tonight I like Pawlenty best but Romney is probably the better candidate.

Newt is still the smartest policy guy but is unelectable

This sums it up well, I have myself in the Pawlenty camp as it stands now.

Do you think Romney can overcome the Mormon issue with say, Southern Baptists?

I didn't watch the debates tonight as I was on the road home from Kentucky so I only have the first debate to go on.

I will say it does look like Perry is about to enter and enter with some steam based on the Newt fallout.

I'm Souther Baptist technically and I will vote for anyone going up against the Big O. I have alot of fellow S.B. who tell me the same thing.

I really don't think that's an issue. RomneyCare and his former stance on abortion are the only issues that matter relative to some conservatives.

I've never heard an R say they were against Romney because he's a Mormon.

Newt did well tonight - very well actually. He's still unelectable but he's not dead yet.

I'm an I, and I don't think I could vote for a person that believes in magic underwear. I think it will be an issue as the primaries near.

Didn't figure you for one that would be swayed by such a thing.

It's a judgement thing to me.
I guess one could make that argument with any religion. A comedian's routine pops in my mind. 'My wife is a Jew. I can't get her to go for Jesus, much less Jesus, the western.'

Plus Mitt changes his stance more often than Joe Smith changed his magic drawers.

I don't want to vote for anyone that believes (or acts like they believe) in a ghost overlord. I don't really have a viable choice, though...

You do have a choice. You don't have to vote.

Did you vote for Obama and did his religion (or belief in a ghost overlord) cause you distress?

If you said this because he was Muslim you'd be called an intolerant bigot. Since he's Mormon there is no stigma attached.

(I'm not calling you a bigot BTW)

You have a point no doubt. I added to my post to give more info. He (or anyone) can believe what they want, but I or anyone) don't have to agree with it. It's not the only reason I would have great difficulty voting for him. The healthcare plan is actually not a big deal to me, but that's another topic.

I honestly didn't mean it to sound as bad as it did. I think my history of tolerance on VN has been evident. I can see how someone that is unfamiliar with that history could see it as a bigoted statement.

No one has to agree with another person's religious beliefs. However, the PC world has determined that if we act on that disagreement in someway for some religions then we are bad, intolerant people. If however, we act on that disagreement in the same way against other religions then we are perfectly justified.

The double standard is my beef. Herman Cain is catching hell for saying he'd be uncomfortable with choosing a Muslim for his cabinet. I don't see how that is any different than you saying you wouldn't feel comfortable voting for a Mormon. For some reason though one of those statements draws outrage and the other not much reaction at all.

Herman Cain also went off the wall by saying The Prez was raised in Kenya. He is a walking gaffe machine.

Double standards in politics are as American as apple pie. I agree with what you are saying. I don't hate Mormons. I just don't agree with them.
