Bad look for the playoff committee so far

Two playoff games down and both have been horribly boring and uncompetitive. didn't expect Indiana or SMU to win but certainly thought they would be better than this. Hopefully from now on strength of schedule becomes a more outsized factor in selecting teams. Someone in the SEC could have put on a better show than this garbage.

Strength Of Schedule is definitely starting to reveal itself... —Something that needs considerably more emphasis in future playoff seeding.

Call it “home-field advantage” or whatever…. But, even with a couple of late scores, It was pretty obvious that Indiana & SMU didn’t belong in the CFP.

— They fell behind early & often. And frankly, the games were both ugly & boring to watch.

I really expect to see the same thing from Clemson; ; Boise State; & even Arizona State, as well. - But you never know….

Oh well - At least they didn’t put Bama in there!

I know it's a very lengthy discussion, but there should be more divisions at the top level. Just having FBS and FCS isn't enough. FBS should be split into perhaps three divisions.

This is what happens when you apply DEI to college football. It’s bad on several levels. First, it’s going to discourage teams from scheduling other good teams during the regular season because they don’t want to take a loss. This produces a worse product in the regular season. Second, you get games like last night and today that aren’t competitive. This produces a worse product in the playoffs.

Schedules are too imbalanced for the “if a team has three losses they shouldn’t get in the playoffs” argument to hold water. I dislike Alabama as much as the next Tennessee fan, but if Alabama had played Indiana’s schedule, they would be 11-1 or 12-0. If Alabama had played SMU’s schedule, they would be 11-1 or 12-0. Conversely, if Indiana or SMU had played Alabama’s schedule, they would likely be 8-4 at best.

I don't really want the CFP to become the Big Ten/SEC invitational, but I think any objective person could see no reason to give two invites to the ACC. Quint Kessenich, who simultaneously covers lax for ESPN and has an absolutely lax name, said it pretty well. I'm having a hard time seeing SMU as better than the fourth-best team in the ACC. In fairness, I'd love to see a return to smaller conferences and far less of this unbalanced scheduling crap. And at the least, there need to be real divisions so you can have comparable schedules to differentiate teams at the top of conferences for CFP-invites.

Sankey got what he wanted. Everything that’s happened as far as the SEC is on him. They set Texas up as well as they could. They wanted Texas and Georgia in. Really wanted Bama in as well but SMU wouldn’t do their part.

He was not ready for the big stage. Saban called it in the pregame when he said he could see it when they interviewed the QB during warmups. Said PSU would win big and he was spot-on.
