Step from the ledge

I really don't see how anyone can have issues with what CBJ and staff are doing. You're right that their talent is near that of the last 3 years, with last years team being an exception. The difference here is that after 3 seasons Dooley still hadn't brought in any talent.

I don't think anyone is asking for a firing. I saw things in Doolittle's first year that had me second guessing. Same with this bunch.. Dooley didn't have much talent either.. Steady progress is what most here want to see. We seem to be in neutral again. If Vandy runs them tonight, then they quit on Butch much like the team quit on Dooley.. I really see a difference with Butch in recruiting. So far not much else.. Give this guy two back to back good classes and he needs them. Year 3 is when we'll probably know where it's heading..

And you won't know how talented this next crop coming in is until they hit the field

There are a lot of teams competing that have had worse recruiting classes than ours. Granted, they haven't played near the schedule we have had to play. Yet, we shouldn't be looking near as bad as we have in the last three

It's not that we lost, but how we lost

It's like a fight. You lose in the first round or you fight to the last bell.

I doubt OSU would have been blown out like we have been

So Urban Crier would have won all our games this years if he was our coach?

The difference is they kept the players they recruited. We've lost an unreal amount of talent in the last 3-4 recruiting classes.

Attrition, Depth, Lack of continuity (staff turnover) and Schedule all key contributing factors. Talent is not where it needs to be but neither are we as bad as stats and record indicate. Overall Scheme, in-game adjustments and player development are concerning.

Going into the season I understood the challenge we faced, I'm in the group that anticipated a 5-7 to 7-5 record. For me, the emphasis was / is progress, no matter how fast or slow as long as it was there we are headed in the right direction. The way in which we have played and lost the past three gms shows regression, not progression, IMO. This is my concern.

It's amazing how much your team appears to regress when playing three top ten teams in a row.

Agreed our schedule was brutal.
Agreed we have a new coaching staff with raw talent.
However, we were playing vandy.
We still have more talent on the field than they do. We had two weeks to prepare. If our qb can't throw long....
design short slants, etc to add some dimension to the game so we don't rely solely on the run game. Offense was incredibly predictable.
On defense, vandy is fairly one dimensional- their offense is really Matthews. Tate isn't bad and their 2nd qb has some wheels. But decent schemes should be able to handle this.
Stop the excuses- yes we area king in total talent consistent with typical ut standards, but tonight.... Coaching made the difference .
You can try to paint or spin it anyway you want, but the coordinators failed us in this game against this team !!!!

I'm saying that we don't have SEC talent this year.

Neither does Vandy and they are going to a bowl for three straight years for first time in history

Beat Georgia
Beat Florida at the Swamp for first time since WWII
Beat UT back to back for first time since 1926

That excuse has run its course

Vandy has far more talent than we do a lot of positions, sadly. Wr and db being two of those.
