It has been lost, that the point I was making, is that Trump has zero sense of self-awareness. He attacked the squalor of Baltimore, without acknowledging that his own son-in-law and member of his administration, owns several low-income properties in that very same county. Kushner could even be credibly described as a slumlord. The irony is thick. What I've failed to see mentioned is that codes do get changed and updated.
How many of the violations are from new codes that at one time would not have been a violation? Context appears to missing.
I live in an older house and my breaker box is in a kitchen pantry that must be cleared out each and every time to access that panel. By today's codes that would be a violation although it passed inspection when the house was built.
A family member lives in a much older house with a breaker box that looks to have been wired by a 3 year old. It's on an interior wall in a bedroom and the back wall of the breaker box is next to the front door. Pretty sure today's codes would consider that a safety hazard and more than likely a code violation. It also passed inspection when that house was built.

It is entirely relevant! Trump was using the squalor of Baltimore as a means of attacking Rep. Cummings... but it can be argued that his own son-in-law/member of his administration, is also responsible for those same living conditions in Baltimore County. In fact, Kushner is making millions from those same living conditions that Trump is describing as "rat infested". If an apartment building is filthy and "rat infested" who is more to blame? The owner of the property itself or a representative in Congress? The owner must bear some responsibility for the state of their property. He may have realized it and just didn’t care. Because it’s not even close to relevant to the point he was making.

I would agree that the government has significant responsibility for the plight of their city... but I would argue that it's more the fault of local and state government rather than anything that Rep. Cummings could do. I also believe that each individual property owner bears some responsibility for the state of their building. Slumlords looking to turn a buck rather than contribute to sanitary living conditions in buildings they run (and make millions from) is a problem nationwide in our inner-cities and Jared Kushner definitely appears to be one of them. It took some audacity for Trump to reference Baltimore in light of that. One can crack down and push the other to repair buildings. One has turned a blind eye to it for a very long time. Government should be a check on businesses doing unethical conduct. It's pathetic that politicians would rather take payoffs than help their constituents.
The irony is Cummings coming publicly unglued at a hearing about border conditions (that Congress has a big hand in creating and not dealing with}, all the while his home is a rat infested junk yard.It has been lost, that the point I was making, is that Trump has zero sense of self-awareness. His treatment of the Acting Secretary was way over the top and uncalled for. He wanted the spotlight shined on the border with all the drama he could muster for effect and it has also been shined on his own backyard which reeks of neglect.

BS, he's the freakin' GodFather. He's the face of a political machine in Baltimore and Maryland. He has been in office since 1996. His wife is the State of Maryland Democratic Chair. He has connections that allow for him to "get things done" and has found new wealth since he remarried in 2008. He was able to enrich himself, how about doing something for his constituents besides giving them a bunch of hot air and thanks for your vote, homey!I can agree with this. The most Cummings can do is represent the needs of his district which he and many on both sides severely fail at.
Good god man. You wrote some rambling diatribe about there were wealthy people despite the democrats - it sounded like you were stoned when you wrote it. I said there were wealthy people in baltimore since the colonies. Slow down on the smoke, Cheech.Every damn city in America has wealthy people. My little town of 3500 people has a few very wealthy people. What’s your point? If you don’t realize that then you know nothing.

Lol, you're a whack job. Baltimore has been a crap, as is Sacramento, la, san fran. You're clueless aonIt is entirely relevant! Trump was using the squalor of Baltimore as a means of attacking Rep. So ***** what? Does it effect the thousands of homeless in Baltimore? He has no power over that city, Cummings and the other slum lords that run the city.It has been lost, that the point I was making, is that Trump has zero sense of self-awareness.
