During Barry Sanders Jr. recent visit on Bama Junior Day the "big screen" showed Sanders sitting with Satan during the Bama vs Razorback B-Ball game...apparently it is not aviolation to sit with the coach but when the big screen monitor showed Sanders on screen it was a minor NCAA rules violation. More effective if you'll post it when they follow a rule.

Easy there Oklahoma State. Before you interpret the NCAA rules committee intent, be sure you get to the letter of the law. A camera panning for local celebrities during a B-ball game is not an introduction in itself. No announcement was mentioned no description was given and the event was not planned.

I sure hope Oky St. doesn't feel Bama has an unfair recruiting advantage. T Boone Pickens is not suppose to allow Sanders out of the state, without written approval.

Since you didn't read the article...

An SEC official told SportsbyBrooks.com that Alabama is aware of the infraction and will report the violation to the NCAA this week. It is classified as an institutional violation and has nothing to do with the recruit.

Cool, have edit button, will use.

So you're 6 hours behind the southern world. That explains it.

5 hours if you're into that kind of thing.

Edit was done ~4 minutes after I posted, so you obviously missed it the first read through.

It sounds like Fox did the video pan so probably nothing to it.

However, if I was Barry Sanders JR. I would have been worried about another higher profile recruit showing up at the game and Saban asking me to give up my seat and wait outside in the medical redshirt tent.

OKC Sports Animal was reporting back in early Jan about illegal contact by Saban with Sanders Jr at his high school. Supposibly an OKC or Tulsa TV crew captured the meeting on film. Minor stuff but Saban supposibly has a history of doing this.

Well played.

Sorry to disappoint some of y'all, but some early reports either made the false assumption that recruit Barry Sanders was shown on the Jumbotron or knowingly misrepresented the facts. Alabama compliance will self report to the NCAA that it investigated and found that no violation occurred.

UA denies rule violation concerning video board

TUSCALOOSA | The University of Alabama has denied the veracity of online reports claiming that an NCAA violation was committed Saturday at UA’s home basketball win over Arkansas regarding an image shown on the video board in Coleman Coliseum.

“Our compliance office is aware of this claim and has looked into it. Based on that inquiry, it was determined that no violation was committed,” said UA spokesperson Doug Walker.

At issue is whether the video board displayed an image of UA coach Nick Saban and high school recruit Barry Sanders Jr. together. Still images posted online showing the two seated together at the game, according to UA, were derived from the Fox Sports television broadcast, for which UA is not liable. But while the Fox Sports image has been widely attributed to UA, the school’s findings were that the video board displayed a tighter shot that included Saban only...

The following Oklahoman article continues to falsly state that Sanders image was shown on the video board though the author now knows full well that it was not. However, after previously reporting that Saban violated the "bump rule" when visiting Sanders' school the same writer finally admits in this article that no "bump rule" violation occured.

Barry J. Sanders shown on video board at Alabama basketball game

... Last month Saban and Sanders were also in the news when Saban visited the Heritage Hall campus.

Saban and the Heritage Hall administration agree that there was no wrongdoing done by Saban when he visited with Sanders. They said it was just a greeting, which is allowed and within the NCAA guidelines.

Sanders said Saban was talking to Heritage Hall defensive coordinator Mark Adams and overheard Saban tell Adams that Alabama running back Mark Ingram was going to enter the NFL Draft.

Bottom line: It appears that no violation occurred on either visit.

And the NCAA agreed that no one sold a textbook.

And Alabama never denied that an infraction had occurred in the textbook case. Only that it didn't warrant sanctions as it was inadvertant and had already been fixed.
