Not so fast my friend... I seen a story on news channel 5 here in Nashville that in 2009 a group of black high school students were touring the campus when banana's were thrown at them, and cotton balls were scattered all over the lawn of a African American building on campus. There are idiots every where man, black and white. I'm above all that crap.

But how can these guys do this crap and root for black athletes the loudest on Saturday? Freakin' hypocritical!! Get over yourselves. I don't care if the player is black, white, etc as long as he works his but off and represent our school with class I'm proud of them

There are racists in Alabama. Those racists often raise racist children. Those children sometimes attend the University of Alabama. The fact that they attend UA doesn't cause them to be racist. They'd be racist no matter where they were.

I agree, but how can they be racist and root for mark Ingram on Saturday?

Who knows? I had a History and African Studies professor in undergrad who related a story of attending an Auburn-Alabama game, and sitting behind two guys who would yell things like "get that n***er! Tackle 'em and hang 'em!" when their team was on defense, and then praise their black players with things like "now that's a good boy!" Like they were livestock. This was in the late 80's or so.

It's ignorance, it doesn't have to make sense.

ESPN's court-level mic picked up an AU fan calling JaMychael Green a monkey for the entire game last month. The fact that his chosen team is almost 100% black with a black head coach didn't seem to dawn on him.

Like I said, racism just happens. The school has nothing to do with it.

I'm not really sure that they're aware enough of their own racism to actually be hypocrites.

A lot of these good ole boys use the n-word like it's "jerk or douchebag." Tyler Bray is a douchebag, but Janzen Jackson is a n*****.

Or maybe there's a mentality when it comes to the black players on one's favorite team: "They're n*****s, but they're our n*****s!"

I really have no idea.

So did anyone scatter saltines on the lawn of the Caucasian American building on campus in protest?
