'Bama called out for racism

In which state did the KKK start? wasn't Alabama

You clearly missed his sarcasm. I'd say racism is as big of an issue in Tennessee as anywhere in places. Hell, the "white flight" phenomenon's textbook example is Memphis. I know the high school I attended, 30 minutes from Knoxville, had some incredibly racist students (and parents, obviously) and I'm only 26.

That being said, racism within the institution of Tennessee is not as entrenched as at some other schools in the region. Although I do recall a black-face incident when I was in undergrad or working on my Master's. Not sure which. And that sort of isolated thing every once in awhile.

EDIT: Actually, Knoxville is as good of an example of "white flight" as any, now that I think about it.

Why don't you want to say it? Do you think it matters?

Just hate for people to act like the rest of the world has forgotten history. Tennesse was were one of the worst hate groups of our country started, and the world's greatest leader for civil rights was murdered. So yes it does matter because those who live in glass houses shouldn't throw rocks.

Yup, Tennessee invented racism. You nailed us.

Encountered some racism everywhere. Worst place was Chicago. They'd make some of the worst rednecks blush.

He wasn't killed by a Tennessee, so that point is incredibly stupid.

The point was "where" it happened, and if you know anything about James Earl Ray from history, he was a strong follower of the KKK which was a Tennessee original. Sadly racism is still a part of our society, not restricted to just one state or one region of our country.

Which doesn't mean anything if it wasn't a Tennessean that did it. If someone from Illinois goes to Tennessee to kill a black person, that doesn't really make Tennessean's any worse.

What do you mean? The city of Knoxville is still almost 80% white. It isn't like all of the white people went and made Farragut a bustling metropolis.

Study the demographics of just east of downtown or Lonsdale over time.

You could find areas in almost any city where demographics changed over time if you want to pick and choose. The lone factor isn't pure racism though.
