He said in post game interview that his catcher told him he caught it. He said he was just backing up what his catcher told him and had not seen the replay yet. His catcher lied to him.

Vaughn seemed mostly pleased with his ballclub following Friday night's loss. There were no postgame comments from him following Saturday's 9-2 defeat as Vaughn prematurely hit the showers after getting tossed from the game.

What's next for Alabama baseball following series loss to Tennessee?

It sounds ridiculous to be disappointed when you lose a series to the No. 1 team in college baseball, even if that series defeat happened in your home stadium.

I think the catcher thought he caught it, you could tell from his reaction (he did, but after it bounced up in the air…) No idea how the catcher thought he actually caught it out of the air though.

I get tired of it. CTV is over the top too. I don’t care if they argue but college coaches come at the umps very aggressively. I would probably get in an actual fight with anyone who came at me that way. They know the ump has to put his hands behind his back and take it. Its not right and looks terrible.

The only people I have heard complain about Tony are fans of other schools which by looking at your posting history adds up.

Some of you have heard me say that I only started watching baseball during the ’22 season, so I’m one of those new fans attracted to this exciting brand of baseball. It’s hard for me to fathom the traditionalist’s view that celebrating is not allowed in any way similar to what we see in other sports. This article was great in highlighting that. The Hawaii player being ejected was especially atrocious.

I also find it ironic that in baseball some would say it’s okay to throw a pitch at a batter’s head if there is a grievance, but suggesting someone intentionally hurt another player in football, a much more physically violent sport, is forbidden.

Really great article discussing how NCAA baseball have turned the umpires into the No Fun Police contrary to MLB which encourages “let the kids play”. Most of the new rules implemented by the NCAA baseball were TN rules:
1) no celebratory props may be used outside of dugout
2) no bat flips
3) no watching home runs

Love us or hate us but it was the 22 Vols having a great year and enjoying their success openly that boosted TV ratings for college baseball then along comes the Fun Police to stifle that success with their you can't have fun, it's baseball.

The 2022 college baseball season was one of the most watched seasons in history, and a big factor in that was the excitement and emotion that the players on the field played with on a nightly basis. The face of that movement in 2022 was the Tennessee Volunteers.
