Tide players listened to supplement pitch - SEC Blog - ESPN

A Sports Illustrated report on controversial supplement company S.W.A.T.S. says Alabama players received a pitch from members of the company two nights before the Tide's 21-0 win against LSU in the 2012 BCS National Championship.

Former defensive end Quinton Dial, former linebacker Alex Watkins and junior outside linebacker Adrian Hubbard were reportedly present in a New Orleans Marriott hotel room when one of the company's founders, Christopher Key, demonstrated the values of its frequency-reducing hologram chips, "negatively charged" water and deer antler spray/pills.

The players are not directly implicated in receiving or using any of the products, although according to SI's story, Watkins recorded a YouTube testimonial six months after the game endorsing the chips and deer antler spray. Also, Hubbard reportedly said during Key's pitch on deer antler spray that he "already had some."

Not being hateful, rude, whatever you want to call it... but this doesn't even scratch the surface IMO. Hitting the gym doesn't turn a high school kids head into a thanksgiving turkey in 2-3 years.

I'm not really understanding the story but if its about steroids then yes we all know 50%-75% of D1 football player's take them. The NCAA doesn't care. Remember the story a couple year's back about Trent Richardson was benching over 450 pounds and his S&C coach told him to stop before he hurt him self?................Yeah that's natural.

Those are some pretty big accusations to be throwing around with nothing to back up what you're saying.

Edit: Sorry I should ask before I assume. Do you have any evidence that TR was/is taking steroids?

My Dad placed 3rd at the Southern Open Powerlifting and Every one of my friends use steroids and I used to take them......There is no way a 200 pound kid can bench over 500 pounds without steroids.

Edit- In no way am I trying to seem like a badass or condoning steroids......I have much more respect for the guy's that don't take them then the people who do.

Try it out yourself if you don't believe me...... Go to the gym 4 hours a day for 5 days a week, for the next 2 years and see if you even get too 300 pounds....Hell I have friend's on steroids who can't bench 300 more then once.

You kinda made my point. Everybody's body is different. Richardson is a freak athlete, who's to say he can't bench that much with hard work?

205 or 210 person repping 450+ without steroids is impossible.

It's rare, extremely rare, but possible. Not sure of his weight room numbers, but Bo Jackson could probably bench a small car (hyperbole alert), and most people have zero suspicion that he 'roided up.

Bo was an absolute freak of nature, and there aren't many like him, but TR is a freak in his own right. It wouldn't surprise me if TR did juice, but I believe it is possible he could have put up those numbers clean.

it's very much possible to push that weight without PED's...takes a genetic freak but they exist

I just find it very hard to believe TR could out bench a couple of guys I know that are on steroids and live in the gym 24/7 while completely clean and doing a bunch of cardio for football. (Cardio beaks down Muscle growth) AND going to school AND living the College life.

I know what you are saying and most would probably align with you. I have been around power lifters and in the gym for most of my adult life and have worked out with a few of the genetically gifted and have seen some incredible lifts by them. One of my good buddies who weighed 170 at the time had a pr of 405...Another friend who was actually "on" had a pr of 565 and he weighed 215. Even though he was saucing, that coupled with his genetics and his hard work enabled him to push that type of weight. But, I understand your doubt...we are talking about a lot of iron being pushed and seeing that type of strength is few and far between.

They say the mentally challenged are just really strong.

I think that's why Bama's so good.

Haha.

I think a lot of people are overlooking some obvious side effects from taking these types of drugs, not necessarily strength in the gym.

BTW Bama responds...

“UA has been aware of this situation for some time, and we have monitored this company for several years. They have twice ignored cease and desist letters sent by our compliance office. We have maintained consistent education of our student-athletes regarding the substances in question and will continue to do so.”

This isn't the first time a college team has been linked to S.W.A.T.S. In April of 2011, Yahoo! Sports reported that Ross and Key both met with "roughly 60 Auburn players" during Auburn's 2010 national championship season to discuss using the company's chips.

I'm not sure comparing an elite athlete to your friends is a fair comparison. TR is the elite of the elite and unless your friends played D-1 football at the level TR did, that is not a good comparison.

I'm not saying TR didn't take roids, but it is ridiculous to say because your friends couldn't there is no way TR could.

I had a friend in high school who weighed about 160 lbs soaking wet who could out bench almost the entire football team. He is what you call, country strong.
