It would make sense that they would go after Rodriguez . . . but the money makes no sense to me.

Me either. Its totally getting carried away. Shows you how desperate Alabam is. And maybe its just me, but I have a hard seeing his system be half as successfull in the sec, especially without two exceptional talents in white and slaton.

You know who would be the best hire for Bama? One Mr. David Cutcliffe. Not that I hope he goes, but if Mal Moore is smart he throws the dollars at our OC.

Rodriguez is a smart guy he will adjust.

I'm REALLY going to be mad if Rich goes there.

If Phil left tomorrow, I would want Rich at Tennessee. (Outside of the obvious "wants", Pete Carroll, etc.)

West Virginia University head football coach Rich Rodriguez emphatically denied that he was on the verge of accepting the head coaching job at the University of Alabama

“I plan on being at West Virginia the rest of my career,” said Rodriguez, who called into Friday night’s “MetroNews Statewide Sport.” Earlier on Friday, WVMetroNews.com had posted a story that said several sources close to the West Virginia athletic department had indicated that Rodriguez had said he was ready to accept the Alabama job, if offered.

But Rodriguez vigorously denied the story was true.

“I don’t know what was said – I was over here with my team at Lakeview for dinner like we always do the night before a game – and my wife, Rita, calls me in tears saying, ‘You’re not going to believe what is being said (on the Sportsline).’ I asked her what was said, and she said, ‘They are reporting that you’ve already accepted the job at Alabama, you’ve already told your coaches, that you are telling your team tonight.’ I said, ‘What are you talking about.’ She said, ‘Yeah, they are citing athletic department sources.’ I have no idea what anybody is talking about. I have not talked to anybody, they haven’t offered me anything, I didn’t even say I was interested. When all of these rumors come up, all I said was I don’t address rumors. It’s as simple as that.”

Rumors are pretty strong - even coming out of WV.

I like the guy - I'd hate to have to start hating him :)

I'm loving it! Half or more of the callers I listened to on Finbebaum today are utterly conviniced that on Sunday night or Monday morning Mal Moore will present Spurrier, Saban or Stoops as the head coach, although most also agree that they'd be oka with Rich Rod as a backup choice.

Rodriguez is a smart guy he will adjust.

His offensive scheme had mixed success when he first got to WVU. Being among the nation's leaders in rushing was not what he had in mind. But, he adjusted. He can win anywhere. That said, we're fortunate that he is not going to Alabama.

If Spurrier did end up in Tuscaloosa, that would be one swirling vortex of evil.

I haven't even heard any rumors regarding Stoops.

Here in Arizona, they're trying to say that there is a possibility of Pete Carroll becoming the new head coach for the Arizona Cardinals next year. I'm an Arizona Cardinals season ticket holder, and Pete Carroll would have to be out of his freaking mind to leave USC for the Arizona Cardinals.

i know that's mostly sarcasm, but what on earth does bama have to offer that all these NFL teams don't have that stoops has said no to?

i'm pretty sure he'd be exactly what he is right now.. one of the top 3 coaches in the NCAA. and i'm hearing rumors in OH saying Tressel is being mentioned to go to the Browns.. .that'd make Stoops top 2

The Browns came out and backed Romeo, so I don't think Tressell is going anywhere.
