Bama has played some HORRIBLE pass D's

Two rings already and another he got for watching from the sidelines. AJ is going for number four. I don't give a crap if he can play or not. This game will be decided on the scoreboard.

Furthermore, AJ's numbers would be more gaudy if he played full games. Many times, he's watching the subs clean up.

What I want to know is how many of you will be back on here admitting you were wrong if he puts up 300 plus yards? Probably not one. And how many of you would take him over Worley? If I was a Tennessee fan you better believe I'd rather have AJ at the helm.

Talk is cheap, so talk now. You don't have much longer. Meanwhile, the clock ticks on. 2558 days since your team beat Bama. We'll tack another 365 days after Saturday.

Anyone can have a great day on any given day. Maybe AJ will play the game of his life. I wouldn't rule it out.

In the meantime, against a good pass D (Va Tech) and an average pass D (Ole Miss) he put up crap numbers, and I expect him to do the same against the Vols.

I think he will even throw a pick, maybe two, and get sacked a few times.

As for him being on the sideline....the whole point of PASS EFFICIENCY RATING...is that it takes the overall numbers out of it. It's normalized....which means that completions, TDs, yards and interceptions are all divided by attempts. The whole point is to compare two quarterbacks without overly favoring the one that throws 50 passes a game over the one that throws 30 passes. So it doesn't matter that AJ was on the sideline...his rating reflects only on the passed he threw, because everything is divided out by the number of attempts.

Bammers! You have to explain everything to them. :)

i do have to say that the secondary is improving with each and every game, AJ will give them a good damn test come Saturday, don't have any doubt about that,he is a very good QB,the Vols need a couple of early interceptions against him and hopefully rattle him,who knows,it could happen :)

AJ has been sacked seven times in seven games this season. So good luck with that.

Get back to me when your D is as good as Ole Miss (who beat Florida by the way, and how did UT do against Florida?) and Virginia Tech, who has not lost since losing to Bama.

McCarron is a better than Shaw...
At reading defense and passing yes. He also never gets his uniform dirty. That makes him or any decent QB look good. He doesn't have great wheels, so we need to get after him and make him think it's not just another game. He needs some turf hanging out of his facemask and a little dirt on his uniform..

Pretty deft to dog their defenses but slip in that ours won't even be the best they've faced. Team117 is opportunistic in all 3 phases as of late. They'll get their chances and I'm just hoping the capitalize.
Regarding Mccaron I believe he's the 4th best QB we've faced. He's a winner on a winning team and has some poise but skill wise Murray, Mariota, and Shaw are better.

Drop Oregon where a team not ready for prime time with a poor game plan got crushed.... and the numbers he posted look ALOT better. Mariota's QB rating was 222. The next highest has been the UF combo at 130. Shaw and Murray who are better QB's than either of UF's guys were 105 and 130 respectively.

We focus on the O alot but this D has quietly gotten much better at pretty much everything.

Add two more stats Run Defense and overall Defense. If you can run the ball all day then you don't need to pass. Once you get out a solid lead, Why pass the ball?

Bama has a winning team period. Their QB's face favorable matchups at WR, have superior protection, and have huge threat backs at their side to offset pressure. Of course their QB's are good their highly rated to start and have nothing but top talent surrounding them. That said they typically don't do well in the NFL which is where true position skill is measured.

Hadn't checked in a while.
Hard to believe we're 27th in Pass D eff.
Especially with O and USC on the schedule.

Seven times is a lot actually. Connor Shaw threw his first pick of the season against the Vols and was sacked four times. We are hitting our stride just in time to play you.

Dude....Ole Miss has not played Florida this year. :)

And we certainly have not played Va Tech.

You are correct though to point out that the only good teams bammer has played are Tamu, Ole Miss and Va Tech. Kentucky, CSU, GSU, and Arkansas are literally three of the worst teams in college football. Here are their records:

Georgia State 0-7
Kentucky 1-6
CSU 1-6
Arkansas 3-4....and the three is against three pathetic teams, and Arkansas trailed Samford in the 4th quarter on their home field

We, in the meantime, have played three ranked SEC teams (Georgia, Florida, South Carolina), the NUMBER TWO TEAM IN THE COUNTRY ON THE ROAD (Oregon) and even the two Sun Belt teams we played have winning records! (WKU and South Bammer). I'll grant you that Austin Peay was a patsy.

So whose schedule has better prepared them for this game?

Make no mistake about it....AJ is likely to struggle and UT is likely to give bammer a much better game than anyone expects.

For us to win, we still have to catch 2-3 breaks such as turnovers and special teams plays. I have no doubt abou that.

But here is something else for you to ponder...Butch Jones is currently recruiting just as well as Saban (and without the cheating lol). If we keep that up, it's just a matter of time.

Bammer has been lucky Auburn and Tennessee have been down for five years (with the exception of 2009 for Auburn). No more!

But seriously...gator fans, did you know you lost to Ole Miss? :lolabove:

They way things have gone lately I wouldn't bet on McCarron playing the whole game. Driskel went down, Shaw went down late, and of course half of Georgia's team bit the dust against this team.

Here is the NFL outlook for the last several decades for Alabama QB's. McCarron may break the mold but I doubt it.

2011 - Greg McElroy 7th rd
1 Game started in 2012 QBR of 79 and released in 2013
Matt Simms is still on the Jets roster - lol

2006 - Brodie Croyle 3rd round
Croyle remained the Chiefs' starting quarterback for the remainder of the season despite losing all six games that he started.

1995 - Jay Barker 5th round

1987 - Mike Shula 12th round

1979 - Jeff Rutledge 9th round
The only super bowl winning Alabama QB in the last 30 years.

UT has 12 sacks on the year and all have come from DL's. Eight different guys are credited with sacks. The Bama OL will be challenged to protect AJ. He may be the least mobile QB UT has faced all year.

How did UT do against UF? Jones made the mistake of starting the back up QB and play him for the first half... other than that, the Vols physically beat the tee total crap out of UF. They lost their QB. A couple of other O players went out. They lost D players for short terms and a DB or two for the season.

UT did pretty much the same vs UGA. Those teams are shells of their season beginning selves largely because UT hit them.... nothing dirty.... nothing cheap. Just good physical football. In fact, I don't think UT has had even one targeting penalty this year.

FWIW, UT vs the SEC allows 42 LESS yds than Ole Miss and 3 ppg less.

Are you from Cherokee, NC?

PS- Ole Miss has not beaten... nor played UF.

Not really. Some LSU fans call Miles "Two loss Les" because of his tendency to lose a couple of games a year and usually to lesser teams.

Dooley with a patchwork roster SHOULD have beaten Miles at LSU 3 years ago.

I cannot wait to post here after the game.

Hope you do. Are you from Cherokee, NC? Just curious.

Bama is going to challenge us using their TEs. They will also try to pick on Coleman.

I can see them winning some matchups and having some success, maybe even the win. I really don't think this will be the cake walk most bama fans are anticipating though. I honestly believe this UT team will bleed orange in Tuscaloosa this Saturday and give them a hell of a fight.

I hope so. Stranger things have happened. We are going to have a harder time moving the football than most are willing to admit.
