That may be true, but in one of the articles, it stated that Grubb was getting paid 2 mil at Washington and Bill O Brien was only getting paided 1.1 mil at Bama.Nah. There's a blank check.
Grubb knows he's going to be a HC this time next year and doesn't need the Saban bump. No reason to move his family to Tuscaloosa for 11 months.

I think he's only "good to take" in the minds of Bammers who think what he did doesn't matter. As you said, there's recent precedent for the SEC effectively killing a hire Saban wanted to make.Still trying to figure out how Freeze was blackballed for years by Sankey, even at a coordinator position, but Pruitt is suddenly good to take.
I agree. It’s a rare look where Bama is actually showing some desperation. Like you said, Pruitt is a very good coordinator, but there are a lot of smart guys out there who could run the D. Doesn’t make sense to me why Saban would hire a guy who wouldn’t be allowed to recruit, let alone a guy who has had so much notable negative publicity at his most recent job in college. Saban doesn’t like distractions, he is a tunnel vision focused guy. I can’t imagine hiring Pruitt doesn’t come with a lot of non-football questions at Spring Ball, Spring Meetings, Golf Tournaments, Media Days and Pre-season camp, etc..I think he's only "good to take" in the minds of Bammers who think what he did doesn't matter. Pruitt is a good DC and was good when he was there, but surely he isn't the only guy who can run Alabama's defense. I don't know why they'd run the risk of hiring a DC who probably is going to receive a show cause and wouldn't be allowed to recruit. Sure, that place recruits itself (especially as long as Saban is there) but don't you think they'd prefer that one of their top assistant coaches could actually participate in recruiting?

According to this he wanted to be backHow do we know Freeze didn’t want to come back to the SEC until now?
