Bama had quite a few bad calls go in their favor. They easily could have lost. What may bode well for us is how much MSU scored inside.

Hope that means something lol when we play

It means that anybody can (and will) have an off night at times over a 35 game season. In the small sample of NCAAT games, TN has experienced a couple of those. Loyola-Chicago was one, but Kyle Alexander also had to sit that one out with an injury. Another was Oregon State. Small sample sizes. **** happens. Phi Slama Jama had an off night versus NC State. Georgetown with 5 future NBA players (including Patrick Ewing, one of the greatest post players in NCAA history) had an off night and lost the NC to Nova. Virginia had an off night as a #1 seed and lost to a #16.

we also struggled with kentucky and they beat them by 26 lol

We got Kentucky just as they started to get it together. Still would’ve beaten them if we just hit layups. Maybe Alabama is just starting to slide back a little. One can hope.

I didn’t see the game…what did MSU do to slow down Alabama’s offense?

I think that the UT/Bama game is simple…which team goes 12-20 from 3, and which team goes 5-24 from 3.
I don’t think it’s ever that simple. Yes, good shooting matters, but there are so many other facets of the game that matter. Did one team out rebound the other by 20? If so, how many offensive rebounds became 2nd chance points? Did one team have 15 more shot attempts because of forced turnovers, etc? There are lots of areas that matter.

Means nothing! Maybe it will cause Bama to think we better be ready for Tennessee they will be tough comparing the way they handled Ms and the way we had to fight tooth and toenail to beat them.

I don't know if teams think that way or not. I know coaches don't. That game is too far out right now for either team to be thinking about it but you can bet both teams will have their A games ready when the time comes.

I watched the Alabama verses Mississippi State basketball game last night. Mississippi is a very good defensive team. However, they maybe the worse offensive team in the league. On offense they are almost unwatchable....empty possession after empty possession. As you watch them play and see them shoot terrible pass after terrible pass it makes you appreciate Coach Barnes that much more. They pay no attention to detail. Now having said that they had and eight pont lead with less than 10 minutes to play. I knew they would not win...they are so undisciplined and their "best" players have atrocious shooting form and terrible mechanics.

However, they exposed Alabama some. Miller and Clowney are unbelievably good. They are also freshmen and make freshmen mistakes. Miller had only 8 points last night(I think) way off his average. He shot at least one air ball and rushed other shots because Mississippi guarded him. Mississippi State's defense made 6'11 Clowney look pedestrian. 7 foot Bedaiko was not effective against Mississippi's 7 footer. Alabama is very big and atheletic. They are not unbeable in league as I had earlier believed. In my opinion. Tennessee will beat Alabama in Knoxville. Our problem could come from another loss to our arch rival Kentucky.

Thomson Bowling has to wake up down three stretch as it wasn’t loud Vs KY. The atmosphere reminded me of the 11am TN @ LSU game. The students were still on break Vs KY visited TBA recently. That def played in KY’ favor.

I think the Tenn-Ala game will be played at a Tennessee pace. I think Vols can defend the 3 AND protect the rim with Uros & Aidoo & Co. I expect a game more like last nights Ala-Miss St game.

A week ago I would have stated differently but I watched quite a bit of Bama’s game against MSU, and I think I like our chances a bit more now especially at home. They are long and athletic which will cause us problems but Bama has a tendency to go a lot of 1x1 which will give them grief against our defense. Against Houston, who is similar to the Vols, Bama didn’t go nuts and frankly should have lost. I‘m still concerned about our ability to score enough due to their athleticism on perimeter.
