It's not an issue at all really. Hell, our local Aggie Radio show has been talking about him all morning. They've had a ton of former staff members, GA's, and even John David Crow on.

He's an important figure in College Football History. The uproar about it being a big deal and focal point on another important, and tragic American Historical moment will rub some the wrong way though.

I'm not seeing a big problem here; it's his birthday.

Now if you want to get into the deity worship some do of Bryant, ok.

What the good folks of Alabama apparently do not take into consideration is that a lot of U.S. citizens do not care about CBB's birthday, but do REALLY care about the real reason to remember Sept. 11. The University and their fans could have done the same thing yesterday or tomorrow...but chose to commemorate TODAY...a day when the people of the U.S. chose to remember the REAL heroes. :hi:

The AD wasn't asking that everyone in the country post that picture, so I'm not sure what your point is.

A) Today is his birthday, not yesterday, not tomorrow. If your birthday was 9/11, would you celebrate it the day before or after?

B) I wasn't aware Alabama expected anyone to totally forget what happened on 9/11 and focus only on Bear Bryant.

Get off your high horse, and stop acting like you're so offended.

It's the guy's 100th birthday. Why's it a problem to acknowledge it?

There is nothing wrong with that in itself.

...but you need to realize...when normal, sane, reasonable, and intelligent people look at Bama fans down here and see 'ish like this:

Y! SPORTS

...they are going to wonder WTF is in the water that causes this kind of mass stupidity and hysteria over dead coaches.

Never understood the point of acknowledging or celebrating a dead person's birthday. My wife says every year my grandparents would be so and so years old if they were still living, but they're not. G. Washington would be 250 today if he was alive.

And there's a national holiday every year commemorating Washington's birth, along with Licoln's. You should write to Congress and recommend that everyone get to work on the third Monday in February.
