There's an old Daryl Hall album that is really good - prolly late 70s/early 80s - with Fripp and the eventually King Crimson incarnation for Discipline (sans Adrian Belew)

I need to check that out. I unjustly make fun of Oates, But Daryl Hall is a great songwriter, really soulful for a white dude.

Dragonforce. I know they weren't even close to be undiscovered but neither nor my friends had ever heard them before.

How were they Sunday?

I didn't see them at Bonnaroo, but listening to their new album I'm starting to like them.

totally ripped. played for about 30 people, hung out at the bar. I got a hand numbered(1-500), tour only, white vinyl of the new album.

Audience wasn't as crazy as past Jeff shows, but the two guys sounded great.

This one... Maybe you guys too... Anybody listen to mewithoutYou? Sounds like typical emo-ish post-hardcore on first listen, but once you go through their albums a time or two then there's absolutely incredible depth. Good video here:

Oh and just so I won't have to tell any of you "I told ya so"

The music coming out of Bowling Green KY is gonna be compared to the scene in Seattle in the early 90s. There have already been a few bands break out that have ties to BGKY...it's the new Nashville of rising talent.

Cage The Elephant

Mona. (technically from Ohio/Nashville but two members are from BG. great guys! They are the next kings of Leon. Book it.

Morning Teleportation. Now reside in Portland Oregon. But went to school and lived here when the band started. Just played on David letterman and are friends with modest mouse and the flaming lips.

Sleeper/Agent. I started that band 3 years ago, left almost two years ago to pursue a new project but good stuff there. They've been in Spin magazine and are getting tons of press. Toured quite a bit with cage the elephant this year.

Then there is my band, we are on the brink of making major strides in breaking out right now too. "the black shades" you can find us on Facebook or google "the black shades ky" or something of that sort (www.**************theblackshades) we've been touted as the next in line to break out from bowling green. Coming to knoxville in 2 weeks to play preservation pub on July 2nd. Have done south by southwest and we will be going to nova scotia later this year to play a huge festival out there. Gonna record in Lexington in August with a producer that recorded several solo projects for Jim James (of my morning jacket)

Yup. At sxsw! We were also playing sxsw so with the busy schedules we had, could only take in a few shows. Jeff was one of em.
