Bang Shootie conversation

I've been threatening to buy a silver pigeon o/u for years and haven't done it. Was in Memphis a few months ago and they had one in stock at the Pyramid. I spent at least 20 minutes drooling over it.

I have a Stoeger O/U that the red women got for me. That’s what sold him on it.

O/Us, I seek an upland game bird gun, a lightweight 12 that can take 3” shells. Though I’m most likely going to hunt quail, I do want a gun that can handle the occasional turkey load, should I have the opportunity to hunt them. Winchester 101 select and lightweight 12 have my eye - under 7 lbs with a rep for handling and recoil like a 16 or 20. Models with 26” barrels have been popular and should be available for ~$1,000 or less. What I want to know is can these guns handle a load appropriate for turkeys. Maybe not the magnum #4 steel, but a load that’s good for turkeys.

Shooting lefty limits options for me. I don’t know of any more affordable semi-auto 12s made for lefties, lightweight, reliable, quality guns good for hunting game birds to deer.

The Franchi Instinct L 12 is available chambered for 3”. It has 28” barrels, weighs <= 7lbs, and handles like smaller bores. Can it handle a load suitable for turkeys? I don’t know. Supposedly available new for just over $1,000…

I’ve got to take my Hunter Arms Fulton out to a range, soon. Take a weekday off in September. I’d prefer trap, as it’s been awhile since I’ve fired a shotgun.
