i very much doubt scroogins thinks he is going to be sitting on the bench, just like every other delusional 18 year old HS star. and i very much doubt that pete carroll is telling him he is going to be on the bench too.

I was agreeing with the other post, and I agree with you. I think this is somewhat good news for JS. How today's news changes anything for Scroggins is beyond me.

Not really because Scroggins is not "afraid of competion". He actually thinks he will beat out Barkley.

Barkley being named the starter actually validates JS's delusion. Think about it. A true freshman actually beat out the other guy for the job. Why would he not think the same thing could happen next year?

I feel bad for Corp...sitting on the bench waiting for your turn and then Bam it is gone to a true frosh. Let that be a lesson to all recruits...just because you were great in HS sitting on the bench waiting for your turn is not smart...go somewhere and play early. Don't let a team recruit over you.

Matt Barkley must really be impressive for CPC to name him as starter. If you think about the QB'S that have started for USC during Carrol's tenure, all of them have been NFL draft picks (3 top 10 picks). USC has been the most dominant team in the country since 2002, there is no way that people aren't in Scroggins ear making him understand this. I hope he listens.

"It's clear to us as a staff that Matt Barkley is ready to be the starting quarterback at USC," Carroll said. "He has exceeded all our expectations. He has all the physical ability, he has the mentality and temperament to handle the position, his personality is very well received by all the players and he's extremely talented.

"At this point, he's ready to be the guy for us."

With that being said, Aarron Corp and Mitch Mustain are both Sophmores and Barkley is a freshman. I can't see them both wanting to ride the pine for their remaining two years at SC. I have to think that with Kiffins USC connections and our vast gaping space at QB that there could be some transfer rumors with us involved will be floating around in the very near future. Also how do you all think this will play out with our chances with Scroggins? Remember this is all just speculation and my inquisitive nature getting the best of me. Can't wait to see what you all think.

Well people been saying this long time now, so have I. ANYTHING CAN HAPPEN IN COLLEGE FOOTBALL. you know I saw this news on ESPN yesterday, I were thinking same thing you did. And thing is UCS may got Scoggins now but why would he want to set out for two the three if he stay commit to USC. More likely he won't be seeing playing time until third or fourth years then, but if he change his mind and go to Tenn. he more likely start sooner. He might be redshirt in his first year at Tenn. Cuase NS be back next year. GO VOLS:rock:

wow, Scroggins has a big decision to make. Play at UT or keep stats for Barkley. Hmmm.:wink2:

See the rock?...Those proportions are correct...But hey at least you can tell your kids and grand kids that you went to USC and was a backup for 3-4 years.

I would be thrilled if news came out that Corp wanted to transfer to UT. Kiffin did in fact recruit him to USC, so you know he has a relationship with him. Kiffin recruited him to the same system at USC that he's running at UT. It would be AMAZING to have him here on the Hill.

I can hear it now. "Dude....you got screwed over. You want to play immediately?"

What pisses me off the most about all this, Carroll is going to use this announcement as a recruiting advantage.

"See kid, when I announce you as my starting QB, ESPN will make it their #1 story for 3 days. Wilbon and Kornheiser will talk about you like your a god and the boys from Mike and Mike will talk about you at 5am the next day and all of America will be there to hear about it."

Can any other school in America say that? I mean crap all Herbstreat, Corso and the boys are going to talk about on Gameday is Tim Tebow and how USC is the best program in America. DUH? Recruits all over the country will imagine their name being gloated over for the next 4 years by all these people
