He strikes me more of a Richt than a Saban. And I don't mean that as a knock on coaching ability - more like where his priorities are.Barnes has always struck me as someone who intends to coach as long as he remains physically and mentally able. Kind of like Saban. Not the kind of person who would enjoy retirement.
It raises the cost of a buyout. Which will do little to shut “them” up.
He was lucky with the timing of his contract to stay. Had it been a year later with COVID it would have been less. So others of his caliber are catching up. But… but… $5 million.
That's crazy to meBarnes will be 68 this summer.
Pearl is 62 or will be in a week or two.
Izzo is 67.
K is 75.
Pitino will be 70 before next season.
Boeheim 77.
Roy was 70 when he retired a year ago.
Bob Huggins is a year older than Barnes.
Ray Mears stepped down at 50 years old. He lost to Boeheim in his last game.
