Not really. Mears never won an NCAA tournament game. He was 0-4 in the NCAA tournament. He did win 5 NIT games (5-2) but never got beyond the quarterfinals.

He would’ve have if the rules were the same as today. Imagine being 20-4 and not getting a tourney invite because you lost to cheating UK twice

Musselman is the current johnny-come-lately who gets way too much media love. Remember Shaka Smart?

Musselman I think is a hell of a coach, personally. Shaka made a ton of hay out of a single Final Four run during his second year as a HC. He's made several NCAATs, but hasn't gotten out of the first weekend in any of them.

Musselman, in contrast, made three NCAATs at Nevada including a Sweet 16, has already made an Elite Eight at Arkansas, and was a HC for 3 years in the NBA. He's a much better coach and has accomplished way more than Smart.
