I was reading about him and this guy is not like a normal freshman. He was playing in a league against top competition and was coached by an NBA guy. I know Barnes is tough on PG's but I think this guy can pick up the schemes better than a freshman and help us out a lot sooner that later. Hate to waste one yr of his eligibility but its necessary now with LT gone.

But, his learning curve is on the metric system. How does that factor into the equation?

What you all dont realize is this .. there is a reason that basketball practice starts a month before playing a game .. its called learning plays and conditioning ... conditioning I assume he has been keeping up with .. but there is only one way to learn sets and running plays and out of bounds plays and defensive sets ... its to practice .. they dont have time for this kid to take a month to get aclimated to the offense and defense and especially to run it as a point guard .. that like getting a QB in football on a WED and tell him OK your the QB on Sat ... learn all these plays .. where everybody lines up ..what each reciever is doing on this play and ok ..then if the defense is not lined up that the play will work check off to another play .. LOL .. some people on here just think you put the sneakers on and go out on court ...

And it even Starts way sooner than a month.

Imo there is very very little chance this kid can come in and elevate this team in performance. We may play him out of desperation but imo we will be a worse team if we do that

Thanks for the assistance! Wise words!! Did you steal them or think them up all by yourself???

P.S. the ball is almost round.

Its really hard to say right now if he plays or not if he is cleared. But one thing I have seen watching his tape against Men playing in NBA Academy is that he is the best pure point guard we have recruited in many years since Watson. So if he catches on quickly play him if you believe he gets you to the Big Dance.

Good luck pushing this idea Orange Beach. I posted something similar a couple days ago and couple posters of this fourm " that know more than the rest of us" laughed at the idea he could come in and play early. I mean basketball is hard, and Barnes system is very difficult to pick up.

Well it was just a hope. Thought if I said it maybe it could come true, ha. I have read all the post about when I win 700 games come back, etc. I expected it. But the posts about the NCAA and SEC are real problems and that pours water on this more than the snarky replies .

I’m sure the NCAA and the SEC will get right on it and have him cleared to play by May 2020
We've seen how the ncaa works.
His "immediate eligibility" will, of course, be granted within a couple years (if not longer) of applying for it. Just like with Plavsic.

Your post are plenty reasonable. For me I think this guys defense will be what keeps him from making us better

I've heard that the balls in America have 2.5678 pounds of air more than the balls in other countries. This could be a major problem for Santiago, as he could severely injure his fingers while bouncing the American ball. Maybe he could call Tom Brady and figure out how to deflate the ball to his liking.

I would think that clearing Vescovi is more of a routine process for the AA. As long as the UTAD doesn't drop the ball when submitting the paperwork, I wouldn't think that it would be anything like requesting a waiver or appealing a decision on unique situations. It doesn't seem like there is a lot of judgement required in Vescovi's case. Of course there were issues clearing Turner in 2015 and Kentucky turned in TN and Bernard King had to miss some games in 1974. There are probably other examples in between those... the NCAA is anything but consistent.

100% needs to play immediately once he clears. Barnes comments about it being "highly unlikely" for him to play this year was before Lamonte going down. That changed everything. If we also get Plasvic cleared--this is a completely different squad with completely different aspirations.
