Pearl is about to turn 65. Even without the baggage such as a broken moral compass he’s not the solution to filling a possible vacancy.

White needs to get somebody about 49 or 45 years old. A great recruiter if much younger and a coach with a proven track record if a little bit older.

I don't like the guy at all. He's slimy as slimy can get. But, with the rules the way they are now, and it's legal to buy players, some school will give Will Wade another chance and the dude can coach. Not saying it should be UT but i hope he's hired outside the SEC.

Going from Barnes to Wade would be quite the whiplash from a cultural standpoint.
He's the last guy I want to be the face of our program.

Kim was a good fit here when recruiting was dirtier. Now recruiting is very much driven by how much NIL$ is available and how will a school/coach quickly get the player NBA ready. Barnes is good at teaching those that wanted to be coached, but he’s going to slide because I don’t see him wavering from making them earn playing time.

I think that you guys are infected with BVS. There is no evidence that RB will not be here for 3 more years.
I'm not indicating when he will to hang up his whistle. It could be ...this is his last season. Or next season.

I'll be hoping he is up for 2 or 3 more seasons.
But when he calls it done. One of my favorite coaches will get my heart felt well wishes that his time with kids and grand children will bring him great memories and unfathomable joy.
I will remember him fondly and I will also be happy for him and his wife.

There is an incentive for him to stay 2-3 more years. It would be long enough for him to break Ray Mears’s school wins record.

Becoming the winningest HC of all time at both Texas and Tennessee would strongly bolster his Naismith HOF case. (I think he’s going in regardless, but any major bullet point on the resume can’t hurt.)

Tennessee and Alabama are pretty much the same job. It would be a lateral move and wouldn’t make sense at all for Oats. He is beloved there and is only going to be moreso the more they sink in football with Saban gone. He’s already said no to Kentucky so there’s no reason to believe he’d say yes to us.

Kim would've been a better hire 1-2 years ago based on his coaching potential versus now. Its probably more ideal to get a coach with more proven success in their coaching career.

He barely missed the NCAA tournament last season with Providence, and is likely headed towards a losing record this season with his star player out for the rest of the season.

I’d wager that Danny White will hire the mid-major coach making the NCAAT splash in the Sweet 16. Pearl. KO. The same guy in the Elite Eight has a lot more leverage.

And when a guy like Carr leaves in the middle of the season when you are the #1 team in the nation, then it makes it difficult to coach these young guys. They want playing time and money or they will leave. They don't value the development factor. They aren't willing to stick around and go through the offseason bootcamp Barnes likes to put his players through. So Barnes is left to get guys in the portal. Which is helping from an offensive perspective, but the effectiveness of those guys is becuase of defensive players like ZZ and Shack doing alot of dirty work. Once we lose those guys, I'm not sure how things will go in the future. That's my long drawn out way to see that I could see this being Barne's last year.

You don't know what you're talking about with Carr leaving. Nothing to do with playing time or NIL. Off the court issues.

Easy draw or not, he still gets credit for getting Bama to a final 4 (something we’ve been chasing for many many years) But I agree with you, don’t think I would want him running UT basketball anytime soon.
