Kiffin leaving somewhere after spending a whole year there? That's really putting himself out on a limb. Bold stuff there bucko.

I don't know about Alabama. People are going to be gunning for them. They have some definite tests in there:

Sept. 25 at Arkansas
Oct. 2 Florida
Oct. 9 at South Carolina
Oct. 16 Mississippi
Oct. 23 at Tennessee

I'm not saying that either team individually is better... but that's a pretty rough 5 game back-back stretch.

When these writers stop writing for reaction, the media will officially be dead.

Agree.

I think Pat Haden gives Kiffin enough rope to hang himself no later than Year 3, possibly sooner.

That will put monte's kid close to becoming a memeber of the Dennis Green Club.

Green is my personal hero for perfecting the art of getting fat, long-term guaranteed contracts and then getting fired VERY early. Only difference might be that Green isn't a grade one jackass.

I think 1 is more likely than 2.

That said, TB is wrong on most of that other non-sense. Nebraska is very unlikely to beat Texas once much less twice. Saying ND will win 9 isn't a huge gamble but I still don't think they will. Ole Miss will probably stink this year and another group of fans will start trying to get rid of Nutt.

He's probably right about RR... and he probably deserves his misfortune more than any other CFB HC not named Kiffin.

You know how you feel about LK? That's how we felt about Spurrier... for years.

i still can't believe there are people out there thinking haden didn't at worse ok the kiffin hire. there's ample evidence he was the ringleader in bringing him over.

But that was before the NCAA ruling remember?

Now Haden hates Kiffin. You see, a Florida fan has it all figured out.

My favorite lines of the article are at the end of the LSU synopsis. "You will hear Jon Gruden. You will hear Will Muschamp." Sounds oddly familiar...

That is a good point. ADs and football coaches are a lot like politicians. That is, they know when to go with the flow. Haden is looking after self and USC, and Kiffin is very expendable if he affects those two items. He is excess baggage to be tossed at the most opportune moment, if the/any situation warrants that. As insensitive, arrogant, and self-serving as Kiffin is, he probably does have some awareness, at this point, that he has to watch his step.

I don't think Haden is as much of a threat to Kiffin as several of these sports writers think, but I do think the sanctions will hit them harder and sooner than most think. Kiffin will not be gone at the end of this year, but I could see him losing enough to be gone by year 3 or 4 if they have the normal amount of injuries. USC only has 67 of their 85 scholarships currently occupied. Now I know that the 67 they have averaged a higher star rating than most every other school, but a couple of key injuries could sink them fast this year. Combine that with the limited scholarships he can recruit for in the coming years, and I could see Kiffin losing the job sooner than later.

As for Bama repeating, I think they'll be a very good 10 win team this year. I don't see them repeating because of schedule and the unpredictable nature of college football. They play 6 SEC teams coming off of their bye week (Auburn, @LSU, Miss St, Ole Miss, @USC, and @UT) this year. At least 1 or 2 of those teams will use the extra week well and find a way to pull an upset IMO.

Wrong on both imo, I just think Bama has too tough a stretch to repeat. This is not to say they wont win again soon, I just don't think it will be this season.

He's wrong on Kiffin. He will be there after this year. He's got at least 3-4 years. I think the Alabama prediction is a safe one. Don't mean I think it happens though. I think they are kind of like Florida from last year. They will get everybody's best shot. I think Bama will lose 2 games next year.

We, of all fanbases, should understand what happens when you have coaching changes in consecutive seasons. There is a 0% chance that Haden dismisses Kiffin after one year unless a major violation occurs that leaves him no other choice.

Or if they SOMEHOW manage to go 7-5 with that roster...

(FTR, not a chance of them being that bad)

Ole Miss and UT will be cake walks for Bama. SoCar won't be much tougher.

Outside of Florida, I think Arkansas has the best chance to beat Bama this year. Bama has a young, inexperienced secondary and should have a harder time stopping Mallet and that passing attack. If Arkansas can find someway to slow down Bama's offense it could get interesting.

SC, Ole Miss, and UT should be glorified scrimmages for Bama.
