Barnhart says, Kiffin gone in a year and Alabama repeats

I can't take Alabama winning another NC...much less having it be a repeat.

Try living in Bama. It is absolutely unbearable down here.

I actually don't mind Bama football all that much, but the fans are what really irritate the crap out of me.

I don't know about Alabama. People are going to be gunning for them. They have some definite tests in there:Sept. 25 at ArkansasOct. 2 FloridaOct. 9 at South CarolinaOct. 16 MississippiOct. 23 at TennesseeI'm not saying that either team individually is better... but that's a pretty rough 5 game back-back stretch.

All of which are coming of bye weeks when Alabama plays them.

SC, Ole Miss, and UT should be glorified scrimmages for Bama.

I hope they think so. The safe bet is that they win all three easily, but that rarely happens. I will go on record as saying that at least one of those games will come down to the last possession. I still think Alabama repeats as national champion though.

History isn't on Alabama's side. Plus i lost count on how many teams get a bye week right before playing Bama. That makes a big difference. They should make it to Atlanta, so should Florida, but both teams could possibly have two losses going in.

He has a hunch that Kiffin won't be there in a year...too bad he didn't have a similar hunch that Masoli wouldn't get cleared to play this year.

Barring a new, major NCAA violation, I don't see them letting Kiffin go after 1 year.

I made the prediction last spring that Kiffin wouldn't coach a game at USC. There's still time!

Outside of Florida, I think Arkansas has the best chance to beat Bama this year. Bama has a young, inexperienced secondary and should have a harder time stopping Mallet and that passing attack. If Arkansas can find someway to slow down Bama's offense it could get interesting.

SC, Ole Miss, and UT should be glorified scrimmages for Bama.

Mallett may make some throws, but Alabama's DL will hammer him.

Alabama will just plug away with its three yards and a cloud of dust attack and then unleash hell on Mallett when Arkansas has the ball.

Bama's not going to make it a shootout and its defensive front 7 is strong enough to control the LOS (even without Dareus)

I could be a little off on this but I am almost positive that 6 teams Bama plays this year have a bye the week before they play them. With every team having that extra rest and seeing how many close ones they had last year, I just don't see it happening.

While I don't believe SC, Ole Miss, or (sadly) UT are nearly as good as Bama, I think they may have a shot because of the bye week factor. It's not that they'll find some secret on their bye weeks, but they will have a chance to rest and heal. In the SEC, where players have to live through such physical games every week, a two-week rest period often means getting healthy and getting starters that have been dealing with minor injuries back to 100% ability.

Alabama will be solid, but their defense will not be as good as it was last year. How is that for going out on a limb?

I think 1 is more likely than 2.

That said, TB is wrong on most of that other non-sense. Nebraska is very unlikely to beat Texas once much less twice. Saying ND will win 9 isn't a huge gamble but I still don't think they will. Ole Miss will probably stink this year and another group of fans will start trying to get rid of Nutt.

He's probably right about RR... and he probably deserves his misfortune more than any other CFB HC not named Kiffin.

You think Kiffin getting fired after one year is more likely than Bama repeating? Do tell.

That is a good point. ADs and football coaches are a lot like politicians. That is, they know when to go with the flow. Haden is looking after self and USC, and Kiffin is very expendable if he affects those two items. He is excess baggage to be tossed at the most opportune moment, if the/any situation warrants that. As insensitive, arrogant, and self-serving as Kiffin is, he probably does have some awareness, at this point, that he has to watch his step.

You took a sarcastic comment and called it a "good point" and agreed with it...
