I would like to see the statics for players who change their minds after a verbal commitment.I don't have a clue but I bet it would surprise a lot of people!

It's pretty rare for QBs to switch commitments for reasons other than a coaching change.

I'd say this has to do with the comments from Scroggins. Where he said something along the lines of "CLK said I'm their no.1 target, if I come to UT, other great athletes will follow".

Barry knows he fits in better with a spread type offense. It was good of us to offer the home state kid, but both parties knew he was likely going elsewhere.
Good luck Barry.
Come on down JS........

well i guess he really didnt want to play for UT then. his "favorite team" perhaps, but obviously not in his best interests. best of luck to him, and i hope we can snare scroggins now...

I think it was a smart decision on his part. He is going to a program that best fits his talents. Glad we offered. He's got skills, but not the type that would fit our system. He was probably made aware that if he chose to come, his chances of ever becoming a starting qb were slim. Glad we offered him, because he earned at least that. Would have been bad for recruiting in Memphis if we didn't. Glad he didn't take us up on it cause it would have been worse for recruiting in Memphis as our coaches tried to explain why he never got on the field. Better for him to have a shot at stardom in a system that fits him than to waste away in a system that doesn't. We'll get our QB. Have faith. GL Barry. GO VOLS.

I personally think we should pursue Chase Rettig harder. The kid can make all the throws and put it on the money. He's gonna pick up offers real quick now that his name is out there and going to camps.

Maybe we can play ARMY 1945 Style football.
wtf is that supposed to mean? If you mean win a national championship with the number 1 and 2 Heisman vote getters, I'm with you. Otherwise, I'm just not sure about the comment.

When kiffin fences in Tenn., I hope he leaves memphis outside the fence!!!

Hey now.....although we are on the totally other side of the state, there are many die-hard UT fans in Memphis. I would venture to say that there are as many, if not more, fans of UT as there are U of Memphis. That fence needs to go around Memphis and keep an open pipeline into our highschool football and basketball programs.

ok kids i think its panic time....if we dont get scroggings now we are clucked...

No we aren't...I had a feeling Brunetti was a long shot and even tho I liked what he brought to the table I honestly wasn't sure he was right for CLK's offense...This staff has several backup plans in the case Scroggins commits elsewhere....Do not hit the panic button, Like CLK said, It's takes a couple of YEARS to build a relationship with a young QB sometimes....We will be fine.
