ok, Windy...I'll defer to those with more experience

I swear, Rendezvous must have the most dichotomous reputation of any restaurant. I ate there many times when I lived in Memphis and never had a bad meal. If I ever return to that God-forsaken hellhole of a city, I'll go there again. There are as just as many people who love it as there are that hate it.

It's not that it's bad, it's that it's horrendously overrated. People talk about it like it's the end all, be all of Memphis que. In reality, it MIGHT be top 5, but it prices like it's a 5* barbecue eatery. Also, it's upsetting to see travelers eat there, when you want them to experience the best the town has to offer.

All we have is barbecue. You put your best foot forward, and the best foot isn't Rendezvous.

Rendezvous is good to people who aren't from Memphis. They think it's the best BBQ they've ever had. In reality, it doesn't crack the top 5 in Memphis' best.
