Baseball Player Pick'em

Hunter . . . Beltran is overrated IMO.

I'd pick Hunter too.

Beltran seems to perform well against my (our) team, but his big World Series (playoffs?) with Houston several yrs ago hyped him up too much.

I have always loved Hunter's game - might not be the smoothest player, but he's tough. And I hate it that he plays CF inside a dome.

Actually, Beltran wasn't on Houston's 2005 World Series team. He came over to the Astros in the middle of 2004 and had the big Division Series and Championship Series against the Braves and Cardinals respectively before cashing in with the Mets before the 2005 season.

in his prime, Pedro's wickedly moving fastball, dominating change and 12-6 hook were the best combination of pitches in the game, maybe ever.

I got a chance to see him pitch in Fenway against the A's back in 99 or '00 (can't remember). Our seats were right behind the pen, and I ran down and watched him warmup before the game like a 10-year-old with my face pressed up against the fence. 2 things struck me:

1) How much ALL of his pitches moved (the 'pen catcher was having trouble picking up the ball)
2) How long his fingers were. I've never seen fingers like that on anyone.

Also, he wasn't that big. Looked average size.
