Tony's reporting on his blog today that word is Tyler Smith felt he needed the guns to protect himself from "associates".

Wonder what associates he was referring to? Has Knoxville turned to Compton since I left?

I was just thinking the same thing! :post-4-1090547912: Now what kind of people was Tyler hanging out with that would cause him to get death threats?!?!? :dunno:

It was speculated to me that this might have been a drug run. Unless they really did just go for a party on New Years eve, it could explain the trip, which could explain the guns and need for them

Fine, get a carry permit.

Why two guns?

Why under the driver's seat when he wasn't driving?

Where'd he get a gun with an altered serial number?

He might be able to get some leniency if he can manage to legitamize these supposed threats. Who? Why? Any recorded emails/texts/phone calls? Was any of this reported to the coaching staff or any other authority?

Might give some weight to some of the rumors surrounding Goins.

UNless the polcie foind cash that we haven't heard about, that doesn't seem to add up. You don't take guns to pick up the baggie found in William's bag. The car would have with either guns or money in it. Even if they made a drop off they it seems likely there would be a large amount of drugs and/or cash in the car representing their cut.

Right. This is just rampant speculation. People jumping to conclusions.

BTW, what are the Melvin Goins rumors re: his involvement?

Good point. Like I said, it was speculation

Yeah, call the cops and say "Hey, my cohorts in an illegal enterprise are threatening me. Please help." That would be brilliant.

You guys think Tyler was involved in some illegal activity? I have a hard time seeing it, but I've seen crazier.

That is exactly what I was thinking. People don't normally get death threats when there is no criminal activity involved.

Well, he is innocent until proven guilty, but he did just get arrested for possessing a gun with the serial number being altered and there was marijuana in the car. You can draw your own conclusions from there.

You're the one who issued the brilliant advice to go to the cops. Then again, that was in line with the rest of the brilliance you put forth here.

Kind of contradictory to your first post.
