mcmasters needs to play his size and stop thinking he is dirk nowitzki (spelling)....i went to the game other night where they played each other (mcmasters and jurick) and mcmasters did not even guard jurick...what the crap?...i just dont see it in him...and btw, tubby smith was at the game and sampson from indiana....so Tennessee aint the only ones after this boys

I agree, but a lot of his problem is that he truly thinks if he adds more to his perimeter game, he will be more of a threat and his stock will rise higher. BUT in reality, if he doesn't use his size against guys that are dwarfs in comparison to him, it isn't going to get any easier once he steps on the court with guys his size or taller. I think if he doesn't start showing a more complete game (instead of just an outside game), his stock is going to start falling dramatically. He's got potential and hopefully he starts improving the rest of the year or more importantly, his senior year.

i saw him play part of a game on saturday (mcmasters) and a guy that was 6'2 was guarding him...mcmasters finished with 11 points..do u see a bad equation here?

The best shooter in the state may be the Oglesby kid at Bradley Central. I believe he was an early commit to Clemson which is why I haven't seen all that much about him. Does anybody have any stats on him?

I have heard about him...dont know much other than the dude can shoot the lights out...i dont know why no body has commented on wells that plays with jurick at ER...that dude is more well rounded that alot of players at his level...i dont know much though

That's the truth about Wells. You pick up the paper to see how Jurck did and see where Wells took over and scored 20-25 in the game. Is anybody keeping tabs on him? Maybe Coach Shulman keeps him home at UTC.

i go to school with leslie mcdonald, the #1 sophomore in the state, #11 overall, and a couple other top state prospects and while they are far away from a decision, they all really like tennessee, coach forbes visits our practices often, coach pearl has been down here a couple time
tonite leslie mcdonald squares off against elliot williams, it should be another big game, briarcrest played st georges earlier in the year and 7 d1 coaches were in the house so this game should draw alot of attention from coaches and media
i will let yall know how these two players play tonite

just got home from the ER game...they won..Jurick, as usual had some phantom foul calls on him, which about sent the crowd over the edge...other than that, a pretty good game

coach forbes was at the game tonite, along with john calipari, and coaches from kentucky, clemson, ole miss.
tennessee is recruiting 4 players from briarcrest. super-recruit sophomore guard leslie mcdonald had 10 points and 10 boards. junior guard elgin lee had 15 points, most of them in the 4th quarter. sophomore point guard gregg wooten had 9 points and blanketed elliot williams all nite. sophomore center johnny williams, playing in his second game (6'7 transfer), scored 11 points and pulled down about 7 boards.
elliot williams had 17 points and was basically covered all nite long. most of his points were free throws and he hit 3 threes, all with a hand in his face. elliot is much more than a slasher, he can shoot the lights out too. he was 6-8 against cbhs on tuesday (36 points, 15 boards).
overall, there were 6 players tonite that are being recruited by tennessee, 3 juniors and 3 sophomores.
briarcrest won 56-51.

Both Mcmasters and Jurick may be afterthoughts in the guys that we really need... as in Elliot Williams. Williams is a guard who can do it all and someone that we really need to get. Memphis will probably be the team to beat with him but that's a guy we really need to team up with Ramar in a couple years. Add him and if we can land Singleton, that would be nice.

They aren't afterthoughts. McMasters, possibly, but Jurick no. Jurick is in our top 3-4 posts we are recruiting and is a pretty big priority. We do want Williams for sure. Give me Jurick, Williams, Singleton, and another guard(we are in on a ton of studs) and I'll call that class possibly better than Pearl's first real class.

I went to the game this past night and Pearl was at the game...thats the second game he has been at this year to see Jurick...Jurick is a big man, and we need a big man

Yes we have had some players leave the state and some will continue to do so. Bball isnt like football cause their is not as many schollys to give. It will always be a struggle to get the kids out of Memphis because of Memphis and it is so far away it is like being in a different state. Plus CBP has only had one class so far and the players that did leave that are noticable are at some pretty good programs. North Carolina and Georgia Tech are two really good Bball schools. I think as long as CBP gets the right kids to fit his system whether they are from TN or not is just fine. To be a powerhouse in anything sometimes you have to go out of state and get the best kids not just the hometown players.

Pearl will build a fence around Memphis pretty soon.

Hall committed? I know he said he likes Tech, but I've not read anything concrete, unless you have "sources".

Ferrakohn Hall has not committed to GT.

Even if he does there are plenty more 3 star players out there for 09

Hall didn't commit to GT.

Leslie McDonald (Briarcrest), Gregg Wooten (Briarcrest), Johnny Williams (Briarcrest), Ferrakohn Hall (MUS), and Gentry Hines (Raleigh-Egypt), all Tennessee recruits, play on the same AAU team.

All I got to say is Briarcrest better have won state, especially considering they play in the private league!!!

Is Johnny Williams that Elliot Williams PG?

Pearl has made both Elliot Williams out of Memphis and Phillip Jurick top priorities, and probably has a good shot to land both. Then for '09, there's Ferrakohn Hall who I think is very high on Pearl and the Vols, and also PG Leslie McDonald. I would not be surprised to see Pearl get at least half of these guys, and possibly all of them.

eliot williams will be a tiger count on it

MUS beat St. Georges in the state championship. Briarcrest lost in the first round on a last second shot. People really underestimate the talent in DII basketball in Tennessee, especially in Memphis. There are several d1 players in this league.

ST. GEORGE'S
sg elliot williams (jr.; class of 08)
- 28th player in nation
- top 5 are tennessee, memphis, virginia, clemson, vanderbilt; he is a really smart kid (4 gpa) so an academic school is a must
- amazing talent, great shooter, great penetrator
sf laurence bowers (jr.; class of 08)
- new rankings have him at about 120 or something
- top schools are pepperdine, tennessee, clemson, arkansas
- good shot blocker, ok shooter from 15 feet, needs to get bigger and faster to play college sf

MUS
sf ferrakohn hall (so.; class of 09)
- will be ranked in the top 50 or 100 when rankings come out
- needs to get bigger, faster, and a better mid-range shot; certainly has the potential to play both fowards in college
- favorite is GT, but tennessee, memphis, ole miss all will call about him

FACS
sg vince barnes (sr.; class of 07)
- was told he was going to attend tennessee, probably as a walk-on, but he has as much talent as jajuan smith did when he came to tennessee
- only saw him play once so i dont know much about his game, but everytime i saw his name in the paper, he had 20 or 25 points

BRIARCREST
sg leslie mcdonald (so.; class of 09)
- no. 11 sophomore in nation
- his ranking came from an outstanding tour at aau, but he avg. 20 points, 6 boards, 2 blocks a game; scored 25+ 10 times (high of 37)
- he plays in the post at briarcrest and its teaching him to be finish above the rim and go get the rebound, and that is rare in a guard
- amazing mid range shot, becoming a better outside shooter; he just has a feel for the game that you rarely see
- 6'4, 190, 6'11 wingspan
- top schools are tennessee, duke, ole miss, alabama (it is still too early for him to name schools so look for all the big name schools enter this race)
pg gregg wooten (so.; class of 09)
- should be a top 100 or 150 player
- good penetrator, good strength and size for a guard
- tennessee is certainly in the race along with several acc schools
pf johnny williams (so.; class of 09)
- only played 4 games on varsity (transfer) but avg. 10 points, 6 boards, 3 blocks
- already naturally strong, but he's never lifted weights and his strength will increase greatly; only 15 and 6'6 so he will grow
- he wasnt allowed to play varsity as a freshman at mus, and sat out until region tournament this year, so he has only played 4 varsity games; so not many schools have seen him, but he does get mail from several schools including tennessee
sg elgin lee (jr.; class of 08)
- with all the attention on mcdonald and elliot williams, elgin lee doesnt get much attention, but he is an absolute spark on offense, avg. 16 points, scored 25+ about 5 times
- unstoppable one-on-one; doesnt play much defense, but if you can motivate him, he can play great; not a pg, but makes some great highlight passes
- not ranked highly
- only offers are from schools like belmont; claims to have had an offer to tennessee, but i think when tennessee learned that they were in it with elliot, jurick, singleton, miller, we took it back, but if we strike out with all those players, this is a kid we could look to because of offense firepower; i would not be surprised if he walks on at tennessee and earns minutes like jajuan did
