Baton Rouge Flooding

One of the guys that works for my husband lives down there but built out of the flood zone. Sad to report his wife's family and his dad's family have lost everything &, of course, are staying with them. He said last night hoping FEMA will be helping them all out.. Very tragic situation and no fun should be made whatsoever. Let's all pray this water recedes and dries quickly.. Plus along with human life you've got so many poor animals plus the critters in Louisiana that crawl and slither.

Prayers with them all!!

This is I-12 in Denham Springs just east of Baton Rouge. I have a bunch of friends that are like family that will feel the brunt of this wall of water as it moves south.. My friends in Baton Rouge were dry, but basically on an island...

When the water does go down, the real damage will surface. And when it gets down to Reserve, LaPlace, etc, with all the refineries and chemical plants, pray something bad doesn't happen with that

I live in Livingston parish and this area got hit hard. 80-90% were effected by the floods and 70% were total lost. 11 confirmed dead as of last night. i was lucky not to get flooded out of my house but due to the high water on the roads we were not able to get out till yesterday thanks to my dad with a truck. most all the schools are being used as a shelter or they got flooded. school across the street from me was being used as a shelter got flooded out and had to evacuate everyone by boat to a church and from there get on a helicopter to another shelter. the national news is not covering like they should because of the Olympics/election year.

Good luck, man. We might have to watch one of our games together this season. :hi:

God Bless Baton Rouge! It's bad down there.

My sister-in law and her husband drove their motor home and pulled a travel trailer to BR for his parents to stay in . They are in the process of stripping out the water damaged material and furniture . one of the losses was a $10k HVAC unit installed two weeks prior to the flood. Can't imagine the hurt and sense of loss the people of Louisiana are feeling right now.

Worked much of today helping at 3 homes where we hauled their ruined couches, appliances, flooring, etc. out to the curb. Was exhausted at end of day and thinking about a beer ... when I totaled my truck. Not my fault, no one hurt. Loss of one vehicle is nothing compared to thousands of people losing their homes and their vehicles also.

edit: Yes, it was a GMC :cray:

Dang son - hopefully you'll get a karma repair kit. Hell of a payback for your good deeds

Didn't read the whole thread - any links to ways to help out down there (donations etc)?

And lastly,
This is one of many families who basically lost everything, with several feet of water in home and vehicles. The mama is one of my co-workers and at top of list of sweetest people I've ever met. And she is from Tennessee, McEwen, near Waverly,

So heartbreaking. My brother and his family live in Denham Springs and have lost most everything in their house as well as 5 cars. I can't even imagine.

I'm so sorry. I worked one day in Denham clean-up. Six feet of muddy water where I was, leaving a quarter inch of caramel-colored mud on everything. We had to move a washer full of flood water, a full freezer that had sat there for a week, etc. ... I just wanted to cry for this family; they were so tough.

I will try to go to this gofundme account.
